Another very quiet morning

Another very quiet morning in the spring woods? Went to a spot where I have taken a few birds before, nothing? Tuff to sit in a spot hours on end and not hear a single peep.

Wonder if the gobbling lull is here? Hopefully, things will start to pick up closer to the middle/end of this month.

Gobbling lull?? Haha... Simply the season opens too dam late here n there already winding down n have started not giving two s$&;'s about an excited hen early in the morning... Only gonna get worse... Really season should open the 3rd wk of April, kinda like expecting rut activity at the end of November...

I hate to disagree with ya deerpassion but I am still a firm believer that the mating season hasn't started yet! The late winter weather to me makes me think that the gobbling we've heard in the last two weeks of april was the first phase of gobbling which signifies the flocks breaking up. Sure there are a few hens and toms ready to get going early every year, but somethings telling me that their main breeding period hasn't happened yet. Last year they were gobbling their first phase in the first week of april. And to back my point up, the first day off the season, I had four mature toms with a dozen hens walk through my yard after shooting hours. They were all still together!! I strongly urge all turkey hunters reading this to keep going strong, and don't give up because I really think that the season has yet to kick off. If everything I predict goes correctly, the next week and the following week should have the most gobbling action.

Betcha a cup of Tim Hortons's coffee it only gets better. BTW, could it really get worse ? I keep saying full moon screws up the birds . Full moon mid season. beginning, ending of month always whacks them wonky and tight lipped. You guys/gals just wait, it'll get better !

I think we will have some better action soon.I don't know when they breed but what we typically see around here is the first week is hot, second not so much and then the third week gets better.I really think it has to do with all three things coming together,Hunting pressure(remember we have the youth weekend and the opener so that's 2 weeks of people scouting)Weather and breeding. Now I am not saying with the pressure the youth season is bad,in fact I think its a great thing to do.So please don't think I am

This has been the best season in years in my neck of the woods.  The toms are gobbling their heads off and the hens are also very talkative.  The toms have been all henned up except for the one I killed on Sunday morning.

I believe the season will get better once the toms are alone and looking for hens.  Hang in their guys the best is yet to come.
