Erie canal?

I'm looking at a house that backs up to the canal I was wondering if u can waterfowl hunt it. Only thing I have found says no hunting near canal structures?

Pretty sure the area around the greater buffalo area is blacked out for all hunting on the zone map... There's something somewhere on dec page about the boundaries by roads...

Why not just email the DEC and ask?

I think some of the widewaters areas near Cayuga and Seneca lake are open to hunting but firearms are prohibited on the canal itself.  Check with DEC.

Its prohibited under 150.6 of the canal regulations.  That was based on a quick search.  I would still confirm with DEC.

Man I was a criminal as a kid...lol. We used to shoot ducks on the canal in CNY every fall. Some nice hunting where the Mohawk River ties in below each lock.

Might be OK on the river vs. on the canal.  Again, I just looked at regs quickly and they prohibit firearms under prohibited activity.  Then again, I will agree that you were a criminal in any event.
