How strange...

So on the way to the gym I'm on main street and in a heavy residential area just before the bushiness districts sets of traffic lights.  I look up and there is a group of 15 or so Turkey Vultures flying low circles over a small group of houses...that's strange! I get to the last set of lights and look in the rear view to see them still circling...So I decide to call the station... I give my name and tell him I know what turkey vultures look like...and hes says ya ya...I pause and say so you know about them...He said ya they've been there for weeks ,must be hunting mice in the field we can see them from the office here....I said Oh OK ..but you do know they don't hunt live prey, I was just thinking ya know if you have elderly in the area...He said ya no ones been reported missing...OK ...well just thought I'd call...

Hell hope someone with very little out side contact..isn't dissolving some where  ...lol Thats a big group of vultures.... we don't see that many for dead deer around here and we are in the middle of know where.

PS I know the area well...there are no fields....hhhmmmm

This is main street Dansville not far from the police station... I just can't picture them roosting there...Hell if they  do That would be worse than the thousands of starlings that use to roost on Ossion before they cut the trees. Their plops were much smaller ;)

Often turkey buzzards will soar in a certain area simply because the thermals there are favorable for soaring... Seeing a group of a dozen or more soaring close together does not necessarily indicate that there is a food source nearby...

We see a group of 6-10 gliding over the Furnaceville Cemetery quite often . When we walk over there I wonder if they are waiting for us to drop . Seeing them glide through the air is a beautiful sight but they are some ugly birds ! Had a group of 5 resting a couple houses down from ours a couple years ago .

Being on the hill here I know about gliding and soaring thermals..If any of you know Dansville... ,They were in a tight circling group just above the tree line. down by the chiropractor. As I got to the last light in town toward the high school They were low enough for me to see in the rear view....It just looked off... gave me one of those somethings not right feelings. Oh well never hurts to call...
