BKhunter
This year is tough.....The corn and bean fields are still up by me (200-300 acres) and there are acorns everywhere. Tough to locate deer as they have a ton of places to hide and don't have to move far for food. Once they cut the AG fields things should get a little easier. Benefit though is they have a lot of food to fatten up this year and hopefully they heard can rebound pretty good from the past two tough winters.
G-Man
No acorns here were loaded last year, some hickory nuts, and apples in pockets. Deer are on apple and grew fields here right now
Hock3y24
I have never seen so many acorns and apples in my life! It sounds like it's raining. Also there is a ton of does and fawns in my area telling me they did better that expected last winter.
Black Bellamy
My yard is full of them! I have a 50x25 driveway and there is exactly one 10x6 area where I can park the car without getting dinged.
HuntOrBeHunted
The deer are loving them my way. I'll be putting a ladder stand in the middle of the patch come gun season. Food will be harder to find and the acorns will be plentiful still.
outdoorstom
Lots of acorns and apples here too. Waiting for the corn to come out.
Fletch
The deer are loving them my way. I'll be putting a ladder stand in the middle of the patch come gun season. Food will be harder to find and the acorns will be plentiful still. Won't they be gone in a couple weeks? Around me they drop and get mowed up and are gone long before gun season. Hickory nuts and apples I see still but not oak acorns. And my local deer don't seem to prefer hickory nuts. I see them standing in them eating leaves of bushes and saplings ignoring the nuts.
genesee_mohican
It was raining acorns in the woods I sat in last night. I busted a few deer on arrival and another bunch walked in a short time later. White oaks too, they looked tasty. On other sits this year the deer were munching heavily on hickory nuts. They make a lot of noise chewing those things.
