New house new buck

Well I bought a new house last week and I have seen deer all over the place. Mostly does and a few small bucks. Seems like a resident group of about 5-6 does live with a small range around my house. I put a camera about 30 feet into the woods behind the house on a well used trail. Have a ton of video of does and a spike and a small 7 point and now this decent young 8 point. He's the biggest I've had on camera all year. I've been hunting state land all year and unfortunately haven't found anything big enough to shoot. This 8 I have behind the house would be tempting but I would like to see what he would look like if he can make it till next year.

I agree that that buck would be a beauty next year.. That being said if I had a shot at him I would never find out.....Congrats on the new house....Good luck...

Thanks all. As long as he can survive Mother Nature and the rest of gun season I think I'm going to let him be for this year. I'm going to keep a close eye out for him and see if he gets much bigger next year

Oh yes.  Next year he'll be a beauty.  I might shoot him this year.  Hard to pass when you put in lots of time and only see spikes, 3's 4's and the occasion 6.  I've passed bucks the last two years and I saw 1 eight point I was unable to draw on.  Gets frustrating but have to keep at it.

It's always hard to pass. I put in a ton of scouting time and time in the stand this year on the state land but still nothing big enough for me to take. I let a lot of young good bucks go. Which I am sure got blasted away opening day of gun season.

Dont want to discourage you but that is not an 8 point.  It has no brow tines.

He has brow tines. Hard to see in that pic but they are there. Video shows him turning his head in all directions so I got a good look. The pic I posted is also a pic I took with my phone of my tablet I plug my memory card in

I would have a hard time letting  him walk..........But the last weekend I would pull the trigger and get my knife out............Good luck..
