a magazine is a magazine and a clip is a clip. A bullet is a bullet and a cartridge is a cartridge. There is no such thing as a "magazine clip" unless you're Nancy Polosi….even then….NO!!

Merry Christmas….or Happy Easter..what ever..same thing

I think the term that the lovely and intelligent Ms Pelosi used was  " bullet clip"...Even MORE IGNORANT than "Magazine clip", since  a stripper clip can be used to charge a magazine, but there is no such thing as a clip that holds only bullets..

Merry Christmas all. gonna get in my Buick, thats actually a Nissan, head down the throughway, thats actually a county route, head to my grandmothers house, who is actually my sister, drink some well water, thats actually beer, open some thanksgiving gifts that are actually chrismasgifts and try not to drink too much so to piss off the wife who is actually a nag…..

Same thing

Its not slang. Its two separate things. Has the waitress/waiter ever said "is Pepsi OK?" Probably. Thats because they didn't carry coke just Pepsi, and Coke and Pepsi are two different things.

If you walk into a bar and order a Bud would you expect the bar tender to give you a Miller??

A magazine is a magazine and a clip is a clip.

Yet everyone knew what he meant

I know. yet a clip is a clip and a magazine is a magazine and….. Im just being "that guy"

When you say "everyone" do you mean "EVERYONE" or just the people on this sight????

LOL!!…..See??

If I'm in a gun shop or talking guns with someone and use clip everyone knows what I'm saying just like in a restaurant ordering a Coke.

If I'm in a gun shop or talking guns with someone and use clip everyone knows what I'm saying just like in a restaurant ordering a Coke.

And in the gun shop, if the person behind the counter knows anything, he knows that you are using the word "clip" incorrectly and he is being polite not to correct you. In the restaurant when you order coke and they only serve pepsi, the waiter will either ask you if pepsi is ok or he/she will be polite and just bring what ever cola they have.

If you go to a bar and order a Bud, would you  complain if the bartender sets a Miller Lite in front of you?...

Like it or not……two entirely different things..

Stupid discussion, I never once said they are the same thing however not a single modern firearm uses a clip to be loaded "and don't say stripperclips because the weapon isn't loaded with them the magazine is." When the OP used the term clip for his 783 everyone on the site knew exactly what he was talking about because clip is commonly used as a slang term for a magazine as I stated in the first place. A better comparison would be a motor and an engine, if you went to a mechanic and told him your motor was makings weird noise would he know what you are talking about? Even tho a car has an engine and everyone knows it.

And as I stated in the first place, Magazine and Clip are two different things. And when the OP used the term "Clip" "everyone" may have known that he meant "magazine" but a lot of members knew that he was 100% wrong in the use of the word "clip". And "clip " is not slang for magazine. It is the incorrect use of a word.

Clip - Something women use in their hair.

Magazine - Something to be read.

So when both words are used in relation to  firearms, thats what they mean???? That makes no sense.  Or are you agreeing with me??

BARREL - A  container used to hold large volumes of dry or liquid goods.

Bolt- a metal fastener.

Stock- a supply of goods

If you said " I was waiting in the barber shop so I read a magazine" or "when my wife puts her hair up she uses a clip" you would be correct. But when you use these words, as they relate to firearms, you are 100% wrong.        Sorry.

I,m back with a follow up.

Oh, I said clip by mistake, sorry,  the rifle came with a magazine. A clip is something in respect to the 8 round clip that was inserted into the M1 Garand during WW2.

Yes folk,s, my 783 is still at the Remington repair shop in Verona, N.Y.. and I have heard nothing from Remington yet. I imagine that they must have a huge backlog

of 783,s that need repairing ahead of my 783.

As soon as I get the rifle back from Remington repair, ( I have no plans to ever shoot this gun again). I am selling it.    Now I have heard this statement from more than one gun dealer that the

Remington quality is as I was told is garbage. Both these dealer,s no longer sell Remington sporting arm,s.

I finally got so upset about it, that I went out and purchased a new rifle of another type for a little over $350.00.

A Ruger American  bolt action in .270 cal..,  22" barrel  with a  black synthetic stock. Oh my, and she is a beauty and rifle has a good review,s on this model. Like night and day difference on quality design

compared to the 783. And I know this Ruger will be no trouble when I eventually get to shoot her at our club range.

We,ll folks, that,s it,

Be careful out there,

 Froggy

After reading some of the argument  bickering on me saying clip instead of magazine.

I could hardly believe a wonderful Forum like this would even have bothered mentioning my error. Wow.

There were those that answered this mentioned problem error did give me their appreciated support. on this silly issue.

Anyone that is familiar with the Remington 783 rifle would know right off that the rifle takes a magazine and that,s what I was thinking at the time

but I accidently wrote clip by mistake. It was like picking fly doo doo out of pepper.

We,ll enough said on that subject.   But in one great way, I do support Remington sporting arm,s from my past purchases of their products. When my buddy and myself

got into our first duck hunting safari,s I had to go to my friendly gun dealer and pick out a shotgun to kill duck,s with.  Ozzy my dealer,s name looked over his gun rack , picked out

a new 12 guage shotgun which was a pump action. Holding this new gun in my hand,s , racking the pump a few time,s and looking down the full choke 30" barrel sight,s on it. It just said to me, buy me and

I will never let you down. I told Ozzy to bag the gun and I paid cash for it.

She was a Remington Model 870 Wing master, a beauty to behold. Man over time I got many ducks, pheasants.grouse and bunnies with her. and she never let me down. Another Remington shotgun

that I like so much was the Remington 12Ga. pump Brush master.. The Remington quality I recall was the highest on the market then. I would buy nothing else to hunt with.

This was in the past but today to me their quality is in question and their getting bad reviews on their sporting arm,s. I feel so sad that this has happened. There is so much competition now

that the gun factories are cutting corner,s to keep their factories running. Therefore the quality suffer,s.

My first 22 my dad bought me was a single shot Remington.. To shoot this single action after you put a pill in her was to pull back the button on the rear of the gun and squeeze the trigger. Over the years with my concealled pistol permit I have carried Smith@Wesson .357 mag., Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag, a .41 mag, a Taurus 44 mag with 4" barrell  My dad was a Federal officer for 31 yrs. and he always carried a .45.

 Gotta Go folks,

Remember to always look beyond you intended target before you launch that bullet  Froggy

Ok ,got rifle back and repair said gun was loading ok.They shot a clip load only. When I had the problem, I was shooting 15 to 20 rounds.

Trade rifle in for a .270 Ruger American which I really like.. Gun shoot,s good groups at 100 yards and no miss-loads. AMEN
