Please Support This Bill A0219

Recommended Posts

Hope I an not opening a can of worms here but I hope there are others like me that would support this bill and will contact your representatives.

I for one have seen to many people if given the opportunity would choose to end it rather than spend months and months being kept alive with drugs and pain killers when the outcome is inevitable.

I don't know the exact number but the last time I checked it was in the neighborhood of 1425 surveyed.

No reason was given but they were allowed to submit comments and it looked like a good percentage voted that way because of their beliefs.

I don't think it was a very wide spread survey and it would not surprise me if they only surveyed one group of people but who knows.

I to have watched a number of friends & family go through the process wishing they had some control over the outcome and it is very painful to watch.

For me personally it is about the quality of life and when that is taken away in addition to being a burden to my loved ones I would like to be able to make the choice.

Steve,

No explanation need for me...I agree wholeheartedly, that said, It should not be considered any different than a DNR...made in advance legally air tight and with a Dr./patient consensuses on time.If for what ever reason that time passes and patient is unable to say a Dr.s professional  panel ruling according to patients written wishes..

There is nothing that stops a person from ending their own life currently. Having seen diseases toll with my Father. i wish he had the opportunity to make that decision and do it with Medical support in a controlled environment with his family close. I believe Vermont is the closest state that allows this.

Culver, I believe that the issue often involves someone who is in fact unable to do it themselves- someone who is bedridden, paralyzed, has ALS, etc.

I get that. I guess my point is I would want the option before I got to that point (seeing what happened to my Father with Cancer). You ever see the story of  Brittany Maynard?
