Was looking to do something different so I took a cross section of ironwood that my BIL cut while gathering firewood. Here are the results.

Looks great...keep an eye on it my wife's friend had chunks like that as center pieces for their wedding and we have one on our table over time is split almost all the way thru the middle.....looks great just a heads up

Yeah it is cracked around edges and I know once it is inside it will dry faster. Ill keep an eye on it. I've done some smaller ones, birch and black cherry that were thinner and hang on the wall. Amazingly, they never split.

Nice job! Looks awesome!

Almost done with mine too.

This one is my rifle buck from 2014. Almost done with my bow buck from this year too. Can't wait to see yours so post up some pictures.

It has been inside near the heat since the 27th and it hasn't cracked any further, thankfully. The sheet metal idea is a good one. Even better is that my FIL is a retired tin knocker and has a beautiful shop to help me out with this if needed.
