Holding those responsible

Recommended Posts

Uptown, you seem to be a little on the anti-gun side. So why join a hunting forum where people are pro-gun?

I am not anti-gun. I am pro sensible gun legislation and strongly believe that assault weapons do not belong in the hands of citizens. Ignoring the absolute nonsense pedaled by the NRA, no one needs large capacity magazines and the guns capable of shooting them for those very rare times they might need to defend their homes. And according to the so called "experts" here a shotgun with 00 buckshot is a far superior weapon for killing others. As for those who claim they need them for hunting, you must be a pretty sh%tty shot to need such a large amount of ammo to harvest your game.

Obviously you don't believe in Homeland Defense, whether it be from terrorists, huge violent mobs like New Orleans saw after Katrina and Ferguson, or our own government moving further towards the dark side.

 Define assault weapon.

Leave Homeland Defense to the trained professionals, not a bunch of NRA inspired fools playing Rambo. And unlike a majority here I have no fear of the government.

The 2nd Amendment wasn't written for deer hunting.  How well did those "trained professionals" protect the people during the LA riots, Katrina and Ferguson?  They are under no duty to protect any individual in America.  The SCOTUS already ruled on that.  You are on your own.

If you think our government gives one sheet about you, you are delusional.  I don't trust the government.  Nobody should.  And I don't fear them either, because we have the 2nd Amendment and the US Constitution, as well as many people who swore an oath to defend both, and intend to live up to that oath if need be, unlike the people running the government today.

And as far as your feelings about what people "need", it's a bill of rights, not a bill of needs.  I'll decide what I need and if I have the right to have it, I'll get it.

Nobody's paranoid, delusional, childish fears, trump my rights.

Well unfortunately for you your right to get whatever you might think you need is now limited within NYS.

You really need to face reality, anyone exercising their Second Amendment rights against the US Government will only result in them losing everything they now currently have, most likely including their life too. This crazy idea that one can fight the government in some sort of armed confrontation has been shown over and over again to result in one of the quickest ways to end one's life. But feel free to continue believing such nonsense.

you are absolutely right. one armed person cannot take on the government. however your lack of being able to comprehend what I doubt you have read, nor your ability to comprehend what you see when action is taken against the government. the 2nd states well armed militia... meaning more than 1. we saw during the Clinton administration when the government over reaches a few can make a statement that can change the direction of policy in the government. as far as your ability to define 'assult' weapons.... all firearms are if one form or another a descendent of a military fire arm. so where does the definition of 'assault' weapon end? when there are no fire arms left.

this makes complete sense that you'd have that mentality.  I mean you are rocking the confederate flag in your avatar.  just accept what the government says.  no need to start a civil war.

...should I turn in my Remington 742 that's a semi auto chambered in 30-06?  somewhere kicking around is an aftermarket 10 round mag for it.

That's exactly the position the American Tories took when the colonies decided to take up arms against the most powerful military in the world at the time.  Yes, the patriots knew they could be killed.  They also believed freedom was worth the fight.  It is better to die standing up than live on your knees.

Many government regimes that have oppressed their own people have been beaten, simply because the oppressed people have been willing to die fighting them.

The only reason any American government entity attacks it's citizen's 2nd Amendment rights is to destroy their ability to resist oppression.  It's been proven every time any gun control regulation has been passed, including the SAFE Act you referred to, because none of these laws have ever done anything to stop any crimes.  They are only used against responsible gun owners.  Any government that does that has evil plans.

Feel free to continue believing that's not the case.

So you believe the US government is some oppressive regime and that you and a bunch of other right wing radicals can take up arms against and beat back? Good luck with that.

It's certainly becoming an oppressive regime. We've transitioned from being a Constitutional Republic to being a Democracy, and are now quickly becoming an Oligarchy. I see nothing "radical' about trying to preserve what remains of our founding principles, or restoring our Republic.

It is accomplished over time.  A few brave men stand up to the oppression and shine a light on it for everyone to see.  They may lose a few battles, but they gain public support.  Eventually, the truth begins to become obvious to the majority and that is when the oppressive regime starts to worry.  Once enough of the population turns on tyranny, there is no way it can win, no matter what they do.

It takes a few brave men who speak truth to power to get the ball rolling.  People who sit back and tell brave men how futile their patriotism is, are the most worthless form of citizen any country could have.
