Beaver in my pond

Last few times i have been at the house I noticed the water level higher than usual. Plus we had about 2" less rain for the month. Then while I was mowing I the Lawn I saw the Beaver, a big beaver. So today I found the dam and pushed two, 4" pieces of plastic pipe through the dam. Water flowing out now. Hope the beaver leaves and doesn't repair the leak. Do you think this will fix my problem.?

I'm going out on a limb (pun....) and say no, it won't stop him.  I bet he has them plugged by sunrise......

He will most likely just plug the pipe with mud.

It will not stop him...they will come back nightly and fix damage..99 percent of time....need to rip damn completly out and even then may not...have you get rid of him

Use the perforated pipe, they can't plug the holes and will move on. Supposedly the sound of running water is something they can't tolerate.

Call dec get permit and shoot it.. only guaranteed way to get rid of it..by the way there are prolly 2 already, next year will be 6..

embrace the idea they are there to stay - i have a large pond, with two beaver huts. A few years ago,the 10 ft dam broke and they rebuilt within the year.

 

The plastic pipe will not work.

 

g-man suggested a DEC permit to kill - very low probability of getting that. I talked to the DEC once about that - they very politely told me to go f*** myself

Guys, just checked the beavers dam and the water is still flowing. Water level is lowering, surprised the beavers didn't block the flow of the water. A few years back I saw 7 beavers in this pond one weekend and the next time I came up there were no beavers, whats up with that.  Didn't think beaver would abandon all his hard work. Maybe the next time i am up he will stop the water. Any thoughts??

If you were closer I'd get my buddy who's a nuisance trapper to remove them for you.

There's always tannerite. Just sayin. I've tried ripping down a dam before and it's no easy task.
