eagle rider
anyone have any experience with G5 mechanicals?
Buckmaster7600
I shot Tekans for years when I lived in NC. They are the best mechanical broad heads made in my opinion. To my knowledge no G5 mechanicals are legal in NY because the blades are barbed when deployed.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Buckmaster7600
No, but the blades slide in on a cam and don't fold over.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Buckmaster7600
Unless I'm misunderstanding the law that broad head is illegal.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

wdswtr
They do not fold back when pulled out. They are sold in every hunting store in NY yet are not legal here.

Buckmaster7600
Having tried a bunch of different heads they are the toughest most reliable mechanicals that I have tried by far it's a shame they are illegal in NY if they weren't they would still be in my quiver.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
eagle rider
That solves that. So thoughts on best mechanicals are what?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bugsNbows
I used RamCats last year. Liked them enough... but was still thinking about trying something different this year. Never tried Rage.
Don_C
I'm a big fan of Grim Reapers. Their new Carni-Four head is what I plan on using this year.
dbHunterNY
the tekkans even had their picture in the regs guide as illegal. not sure now. haven't looked. the tracked blades design is illegal I think they all use that concept. for mechanical broadheads you just use what you won't lose sleep over. less the KE of your bow setup and/or lighter your arrow then go with a lesser cutting diameter. don't need anything with a massive cut. fold back deployment blade designs (NAP Shockwaves, Grim Reapers, etc) you want to be really careful hard quartering shots as you can get deflection and a different point of impact versus something like a swhacker or slip cam designed Rage heads.

So thoughts on best mechanicals are what?Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI haven't found one I was happy with and I've tried lots of them!, that's why I shoot slick tricks. Huge holes fly very well and I know they will open stay open and not break.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The_Real_TCIII
I've used the carbon express first cut exp for years, killed lots and lots of deer, two bears, and a handful of hogs with them. Im one and done with broadheads so to me durability isn't an issue but they fly great and leave massive holes. Best of all they are really cheap. I always liked the two blade but they stopped making them and only come in three blade now
