Butt out! The best piece of gear I ever bought!

I usually do everything with one knife that i got a long time ago. Now i use a gut hook to make it a little easier but still use that one knife for everything else. I never liked the butt out tool because i never liked using brute force on anything involved with the gut cavity. normally all  do is cut around the hole and tie it with a piece of string so I can pull it out later.

Making that perimeter cut carefully takes some time however, and it is usually "prime-time" that could otherwise be used pursuing some more venison.   From the video's, it does not look like much "brute force" is needed.  The trick seems to be rotating it  just 1-1/2 times after insertion, before pulling it out.

I dressed my first and only deer so far with training from youtube and a $3.77 "winchester" locking knife from walmart (the ones they show prominently in the hunting section on the turning display). The entire thing went pretty much as the video said it should have.

Truly the only thing about the entire experience that caught me by any surprise was the powerful smell of fresh organs (did not puncture intestines or stomach btw).

Wait until you accidentally gut shoot one or something lets loose while you're field dressing it.  Some people will put Vicks vaporub under their nose.
