rubber johnny rings

anyone ever use a rubber johnny ring instead of wax?  just want to know if they work.  thanks

i don't know what this response means... johnny ring is under toilet between it and the flange to sewer main.

Pretty crappy way to wax a bow string! Never heard of this before. But if the wax is soft and pliable, no reason why it wont work. But bow wax is inexpensive and can even be purchased in the big box stores. So why not just do that?

I think he is asking if the rubber o rings work as well as the wax for a toilet, not for his bow.  lol

LMAO!!!! OK...I kinda thought something was not adding up! 

I have just used the wax ring when doing toilet repairs. Never had a problem.

this is great.. i guess i should have been more clear.

i did mean the rubber ring under the toilet.  i'm just gonna try the rubber ring instead of wax and asking if anyone ever tried it.  LOL

The wax molds to the base and helps even more if things are uneven.  Plus they are cheap.  Why go with rubber?

I always use the ones with the rubber interior boot with the wax outer ring. They a fool proof. I had a issue at camp though. the pipe rises and settles about 1/2" with the frost. would squeeze out the wax and not be sealed when the thaw came. I used on of the new style foam and rubber ones and it has worked great for to winters. Didn't leak a bit, even with that movement.

I don't know why i wanted to try the rubber other than it was available.  at the home depot near me the rubber ring and the wax ring cost about the same.  Just giving it a try.  Gonna put it in tonight when i get home from work.  Thanks
