but nope ...stinking BEES!

Out cleaning the dog kennel and getting the sleeping areas ready before season starts...cleaned , layed down cedar and then took the pitch fork and pulled down a bail of old grass hay...shaking it loose around the floor ...Wham!,wham! wham! wham!...The door is very low and I nearly knock myself out trying to escape....yellow jacket nest in hay...the hay...lucky only my calf and thighs....but they really really hurt!..a lot!...go back to check from a distance and the entire inside of kennel is moving with bees flying by  me from out side...they sent out the alarm... Son of abeouch... these stings are throbbing! Looks like the boys sleep out under the overhang tonight. We were suppose to go to a clam bake today...

OMG ...I made a wide swing past the kennel door to check on the boys in their run...get to the gate and they greet me ..Wham ! SOB rt at my elbow...run then look up and there is another nest outside tucked up under the roof peak...I got the spray this time...yelled back to the boys and they hit the other side of their run and I let loose...Wow so many bees in one small hive...size of an oversized soft ball. I'm sweating bullets..mainly my whole rt side is now on fire...

Thanks ...Well Mr B got home and helped me out... he found the hive as I suspected inside the bail of hay...they had chewed a hole and built in it...got that squared away so the boys could sleep in the kennel last night...good thing had storms roll through all night long. The hive I sprayed was still alive...but he was able to dislodge and stomp it with out getting stung...I didn't feel so hot a good part of the night..became crazy exhausted and itchy, but could not sleep...got to sleep at 3:30 ...up at 7:45...now I have a really good reason to be tired!...

I actually have one Rob...head gear leather gloves jacket, smoker and honeybee hive tools. I got them when I was working as an apprentice to a bee keeper....We just had no idea the hives were there...and we keep an eye out for them at the kennel every year...Mr B just checked and they are out there trying to make yet another hive...he's going to WD40 them later.
