Bomb explodes in NYC

Recommended Posts

First off, radical Islam isn't a religion.  It's a political ideology.  I say anyone who wants to see them bomb Americans so as not to offend them, has a black soul.  Either that, or they're just plain stupid.

Too scared to do the freedom ride?  Ever consider maybe I don't own a Harley?  I have done more to protect this country, and am still involved in doing so, then you probably were ever capable of.  I'll bet you would have soiled your drawers before you ever did any of the things I've done to serve this country and the people in it.  Why the heck do you think I have such disdain for these invaders and what they are doing to my country?  You're the one who's scared.  Scared to stand up to political correctness and face the truth about what's happening.  God forbid you acted like a man and took a stand against stupidity.

Indeed RADICAL Islam is not a religion. Im pretty sure everyone but those morons in ISIS would agree with you. But Islam is no matter how you may feel about it.

Then it's the only religion in the world that dictates the politics required by it's followers.

Well based on what is put in the media, I can see where you think this. I suggest you read the Qu'ran and formulate an opinion for your self. That way you can formulate a better opinion and if you still believe what you say then you can use specific examples to support your opinion. There is nothing better than knowledge.

It is a religion but a unique one that, in its very text, promotes its spread through violence and intolerance. Most Muslims cherry pick just like most practitioners of religions. A few "radical" ones apply the more nasty parts of it but they do so literally with clear guidance from text. So they are absolutely real Muslims.

Muslims make up 1/4 of the world's population yet the majority of the world's terrorism is perpetrated by them (every white paper on terrorism will back this up). Islam is also disproportionately correlated with failed nations. I do believe it is fundamentally incompatible with what we consider democratic principles. The bulk of the world's high-percent Islamic nations are failed states and/or authoritarian regimes. These countries tend to be economically weak, socially backward, and technologically stunted.

All belief systems are not the same. Islam seems to me a construct that does not benefit the populations in which it is applied.

I have read extensively on what Muslims from Africa, the ME, and the West say about matters and I find their views horrifying, to be frank. Google pew research Muslims and you will find a large amount of data, including what percentage of them think one should be killed for adultery, what percentage support killing in its name, etc. It is an extremely oppressive religion and one incompatible with Western values. The fact so many Muslims live fine in the west is merely tribute to the fact they ignore its more offensive tenets. Unfortunately, a percentage of them do not. And so you end up with orlandos or Charlie hebdos or 911's.

I really can't believe we are arguing amongst ourselves about this. There are only two choices!

You are with the USA or against it! That's it! There's no middle ground here! No "gray areas"!

You know out of the major religions Islam was one of the most peaceful spread religions...certainly more peacefully spread than Christianity. If you don't believe me, that's fine, I suggest you look up the Umayyad and Abbasid empires. Again I suggest you all read the Qu'ran. From what I see most if not all of you just follow what you see in the media where they show just the few parts that support their narrative. IMO that's no better than what those morons over there are doing with the religion. Obviously all religions have some parts that we'd take out if we could

I'm fairly sure the NYC bombing just happened, not hundreds of years ago. My post addressed modern islam, which is relevant to modern terrorism, not ancient islam. How they did or didn't behave hundreds of years ago is merely an academic argument. But, I'm surprised in your reading of the koran you don't remember all the times in which muhammad promoted violence against people. This isn't surprising considering he was a pedophile slaver himself.

Can you counter any of the points I made with data? I can back them all up with data. Bullet list:

  • islam and terrorism
  • immature governments
  • economically weak
  • poor contributors to technology
  • widespread avowed support, according to pollsters, for violence in the name of their religion

I'd like to also address this point specifically. Even if you're right (you're not), saying that people giving views on islam is as bad as throwing gays off rooftops and stoning adulterers to death is something I shouldn't have to point out as ridiculous. A really silly statement, I suspect you now realize.

ATBuck has shown himself seriously ignorant and uniformed in the past, when it comes to the reality of Islam in any context, modern or historic. His claims to have read the Koran are clearly spurious. Maybe a coloring book version?

I brought up he two empires because you brought up how Islam is "spread by violence". That is when majority of the spreading occurred so to bring up how they spread brings up hose two empires. To say he is a pedophile shows that you go purely off the media. I know what section you are talking about, I suggest you look up the real translation of that section. I never said there weren't parts where war was called for but I found many many more or acceptance, love and kindness to your fellow human. Like I said before it's somewhat pointless to discuss what's in the Qu'ran with someone who hasent read the Qu'ran. I'm not trying to knock you for not reading it either, because it does take time to do it and it's not your religion so why would you bother. If you read it and still feel the same way, you have my full respect and I would weigh your opinion much more heavily. Now many of the countries that we think of as "Muslim" tend to be poorer and immature governments. Thats what happens when the western powers play games like they did. You can deny that all day but history doesn't lie. Those countries we think of as "Muslim" are all in the same parts of the world yet they are only a few of the countries. As far as "wide spread" support of violence, I haven't seen that. Nor have my friends who have served in the army and have been deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Have there been calls for violence...yes I'm not saying that's untrue, but it's not as wide spread as you believe. Those calls are also coming from the same place in the world. I just wish we would stop meddling in the Middle East and let them have at each other...what goes on out there is none of my business.

Pot calling the kettle black. It's been proven you throw out bogus info so please keep going. Majority of us see it which is why you generally only have one or two people commenting on your posts. Please keep insulting me if it makes you feel better, it doesn't do anything but make you look worse for insulting someone half your age.

AT I don't know where you got your ideas from, but I can assure you that everything you "know" about Islam and Muslims, is wrong.

I'm not going to waste time proving it to you either.  Someone as brainwashed with propaganda as you are cannot accept the truth, even if it was completely indisputable.  You obviously reject any historical information you see about Islam's past and it's attempts to conquer most of the world.  Reading their book doesn't give you the historical facts about Islam.  What they say doesn't align with what they did, nor what they do.

I will tell you this, when a western country gets nuked in the future, it will be a Muslim country with an Islamic leader that did it.

Apperently my own reading is "propaganda". Thank you for telling me that everything I know is wrong when you haven't done anything but regurgitate media Info. Trying to prove that everything i know is wrong would be a huge waste of everyone's time. No point talking about this topic further until people here want to educate themselves on this. Not to say your not educated, but it's looking as if your not well educated on his topic.

You may have been educated on it, but it was done with lies.  I don't know what you're reading, but you better start looking at other sources, not just the ones that support Islam.

It's at this point I'd say we should stop discussing this topic. It's obvious you think I'm dead wrong and I also think your wrong and neither of us is able to convince the others. I respect your opinion that you think I am wrong and I still stand by my statement that you should as well as everyone else read the Qu'ran. What do you have to loose? If you hate it and think it supports your opinion then you can have a great educated discussion about it. I have no problem discussing other topics with you but I think you'd agree that we'll get no where fast on his one.
