Al Bundy
Forecast for about real feel of 15 degrees. 10 mph wind. My lab has never been hunting in this weather before. Others who hunt with their labs.. you put a vest on or do anything special???? Somewhat concerned about her. She spends majority of her time inside. Good luck to all those going out. Be safe. I want to see some reports.!!!
NFA-ADK
I would get something for her or at least plan on a short hunt in case she gets cold. That is some cold weather for a lab.
Culvercreek hunt club
Put her in a neoprene vest. You can always take it off but I would start out with it. My grandaps favorite saying. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it an not have it. I use to run one on my springer all winter for upland becasue his coat was so fine.

Al Bundy
The water going to be freezing. Me and my leaky waders. I tried on every wader brand in Field and stream and they all crotched the hell out of me. Ill hit bass pro and see if I can find one and a vest for my spoiled lab. Any vest recommendations?? Good shooting tomorrow everyone!!
growalot
Make sure you have a few heavy towels and a blanket to dry and wrap her in on the way home. Also warm not cold water to drink. http://www.petmd.com/dog/emergency/common-emergencies/e_dg_hypothermia?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=+hypothermia in +dog&utm_content=Hypothermia>Modified Broad&utm_campaign=PetMD_US_Search>Non-Brand_Emergencies-Dog&utm_brand=&extcid=497919972 http://www.pethealthnetwork.com/dog-health/dog-diseases-conditions-a-z/hypothermia-and-your-pet

Good shooting tomorrow everyone!! Just make sure it is sized right. Too small is restrictive and too loose won't keep them warm. I used a 7mm thickness. make sure there is a flap under the zipper so that hair doesn't get caught in the zipper.
reeltime
depending on the structure of the area you hunt, I would strongly suggest a vest with a velcro closure. you will NEVER see me with a zipper vest on my working water dog! I hunt everything from lake ontario to 5 acre swamp to streams, there are stumps, trees, and a host of other objects that can get caught up on a vest, the LAST thing you want is a vest thats zipped closed, with the velcro vest they can tear out of it if it gets snagged on something.
Al Bundy
All good ideas. Thanks. I may resort to paddling a canoe out if I shoot anything tomorrow. Maybe leave her on shore.
