Bullet exchange????????

Recommended Posts

I have mentioned this idea at different times and on different forums over the yrs. with limited to poor response..................but will try again.

I have read and continue to read numerous posts about folks asking opiinions about different bullet manufacturers, styles, weights, etc. with nearly the same results/responses.................."try both and see which one shoots better".

Here lies a problem.......................cost to do so. Possible solution???  A bullet exchange.........................if current members of the site have or are shooting a specific brand, caliber, weight etc. that the member is interested in trying. The member with the said bullet sells/trades a few bullets, (5-10 rounds) (unloaded components only, legally) to the needing member to help conduct testing and lower costs.

Or

If a member already has several boxes of bullets they purchased to test and did not like the results, they post what they have available to other members.

It seems like a win - win situation/solution for everyone involved.

Any ideas / feedback on this.......................................or members willing to get involved. Maybe, the powers to be could add a rolling thread or a sticky to be reviewed by members like a bulletin board in the classified section??????? just a thought.

I would be willing to participate, although I'm not sure we have that many active handloaders on the forum....I have some components on my bench that I probably will not use and would be willing to swap for something I need..

There are a few handloaders on the site . I have only reloaded for 223 , 7-30 waters , 25-06 , 270 and 44mag . I expect to be doing some reloading for 308 this summer .

I doubt that I would be swapping any bullets / components though . One of the members on here sent me some brass a few months ago .

Fasteddie,

The .308 would be one of those that would call into the "perfect" example.................being as the bullets will fit most any .30 cal rifle(30-06, .300 Sav, 30-30, etc)

That is sort of what I am getting at.

I would be willing to jump into this.  I use a lot of 308 and 257, as well as 45 44 and 357 bullets. Ed if you need more brass including 308 stuff let me know. I load for 300 savage, 308  25-06, 357 mag 38 special and just starting to work up loads for my new 40 smith.  I also load 45 long colt for a friend.  I do use a lot of cast bulets I do myself.

I'll have to check my stuff... I know I have some 7MM in 160 grain spitzers that I probably won't use... I may have some .35 cal and .357.. May have some .30 cal 180 grain...  Perhaps some .277.... Got a couple of boxes of 9.3  ballistic tips in 250 grain...

Bubba.... I think I have some .25 cal stuff leftover...

I could use some 30-06 brass and .30 cal bullets in 150 to 168 grain for my M1....

I'd love to try a few  7MM 140 Barnes TSX in my .280.... If they group I may have a few 140-150 grain Nosler 7MMs to swap..

I will get my updated list together tomorrow and post on the new thread.

All I can say is WOW, to the response and how quickly this went together. I have literally tried to get this started on at least two other sites with no interest or nothing but negative feedback.

This is great.

Theres nothing illegal about selling or trading bullets, so why not.  :)

I had the same thoughts, but I heard more excuses and mostly all having to do with being lazy and not wanting to take the time to put together a list, too much work to mail the stuff.................blah blah blah.

This is really great.
