Al Bundy
Real feel of 1 for tomorrow mornings duck hunt. I told my coworker I was planning to duck hunt in 1 degree weather and he said immediately "your nuts". What can I do but agree... Stay warm tomorrow. grampy
My grandson and I are headed out to do some small game hunting in the morning. Will combine walking and sitting, to keep him from getting cold. Going out with him always warms my heart, so I'll be fine.

Al Bundy
My hunting buddy will bring his predator gear so likely Saturday evening we will sit for yotes.. Last weekend there was a dead spike on the walk to the duck spot. Yotes visited it fri sat and sun nights. Sucks seeing a dead spike. Al Bundy
Nice... Looks like me and three other hunters shaping up for the morning . We should be able to bring down some birds. I think Ill throw my decoys out and my buddy bringing a pile of his. Should be a good spread tomorrow. Im ready also!! reeltime
Dan, depending on the wind you may be better off with fewer decoys so you don't get ice islands around them.
Al Bundy
Hmm. Good point... Winds for me will be offshore at 6 gust to 9. Good news is the forecast now is for real feel 6 in the morning and -2 at night.
reeltime
when we are dealing with the colder temps we take greater care while setting decoys. we try to just place the decoys carefully as to not dunk them to keep them from getting a shiny ice film on them. while it may take a little longer to set up it looks far more realistic with having decoys without runny noses.
reeltime
what a sad outcome from what was sure to be a great hunt from my scouting yesterday afternoon. had a pile of geese and mallards, blacks, red heads, whistlers and even a pinny and shoveller in a cove thought it was gonna be a great shoot, got there early moved ice out and got decoys set with 15 minutes to spare before legal shooting time all while having birds trying to land in the decoys. I wiffed 2 easy shots on a blond mallard and a black drake first thing and that was basically it for decoying birds, had some fly by looks but the birds just did not want to decoy and there were very few birds even flying. it wasn't too awful bad temp wise although I did finally have to put gloves on about 10 am when my hands started getting chilly, and had to wear gloves while pulling decoys. oh well sometimes we win sometimes the ducks win as they did today.
