Leeks!

I have dug them every May during turkey season for many many years.. they make a great french onion (leek) soup... just replace the onions with leeks. I like to eat them raw with a little salt just like a radish. The leaves actually taste great in a salad

I have an area of them that is a solid mat almost 2 acres in size.. way more than i'll ever use.

have you tried the wild ones muzzy?

YUP... use to go every year with our son, but I only go once in awhile now to dig some up.  Drove by an area today with my nephew, where I've dug them before and commented on how great they taste, because of this thread.

Hey G... How about I drive over to Cuba and help you harvest some?  I'll drop my wife off at the Cheese Factory and let her spend a couple of hours.  LOL.

Ahh leek and potato soup....leek greens instead of lettuce on sandwiches....leek and scrambled eggs....... sauteed leeks and deer chops......

I always dig a bunch extra and blanch then freeze them for winter

it will be a while before we can dig any...10" of snow due to arrive tomorrow...Oh well they aren't going any where :)
