NYS Fair

We have a couple of the grandkids for the weekend and my wife suggested going to the State Fair tomorrow . I have never been to the Fair . I guess it will be an experience for all of us . I imagine that it will be crowded on a Saturday . I printed out the agenda for the day and told the boys to make a list of what they want to do for the day .

In the dairy building see  the butter sculpture,get the milk , awesome sundaes in there too.  baked potato in the Ag building.  Hit the DEC exhibit. Cornell usually has Vet procedures that you can watch though glass, actual surgeries.  i like the Sand sculpture but I am sure it is just getting underway. We usually see it completed on Labor day weekend. Those are some of my favorites

Try to catch one of the police canine shows my kids liked that and the SWAT team show. Lots of good stuff to see and do without spending a fortune on the midway. A few freebies always good to look for . Turkey hill ice cream, maple syrup and coton candy samples, Saranac beer usaully has samples and root beer. Chainsaw art demonstartion, Lumberjack competition also.

 

You can of course find all kinds of bad for you treats to eat!!

 

Have fun we live real close and go every year and my daughter usually goes a few times. Chevy Court has free concerts and some are pretty good usually.

When I last went to the NYS Fair I was just a young critter at the time (in my early 30's). I'll tell you how long ago it was ...... We attended a Willie Nelson concert and he hasn't been on tour in a lot of years. Even way back then, I remember that it was a lot bigger than I could comfortably endure. It was all great fun and kind of exciting and awful huge. I do remember a real lack of shade and places to sit down to recuperate. Fortunately the temperature s supposed to be a lot nicer that the 90's that I had to endure back then.

But even though it was absolutely exhausting, I would recommend it to everyone. It was a great time!

We went probably 10 years ago, we watched Jeff Dunham and he was super funny the boys still have the peanut and achmed shirts.lots to do no doubt ..

Speaking of the fair, I believe on the 27th you get in free if you have a valid NYS hunting license.  Saw a DEC clip about it.

I wasn't overly impressed . Our 9 year and 11 year old grandsons thought it was okay . There were animals to see and feed .Got into the circus tent . Getting in with the butterflies was neat . The place was overloaded with food services . Spent about 7 hours there .
