I never knew they would do that . I also never knew deer would eat a bird until a few weeks ago either.

The story i heard was some scientists had strung a net in the woods to catch birds to do testing and then release the birds ,when the birds kept coming up missing ,they put a camera on the net and found that deer were eating the birds out of the net.

I read this a bit back and thought it was very interesting.

Fairly common for African herbivores to eat carrion. Also common for a few species to hunt and consume meat, Hippo and some Duikers make it a regular habit in some ecosystems. I have a cool pic with a big bull Hippo with half an Impala sticking out its mouth I have to scan.

Others herbivores will regularly eat bone in areas with poor phosphorous content in regular grazing, called Osteophagy,. Cattle and Giraffe are 2 examples that will make it a regular habit.
