Shooting Metal Targets

Hey, so wondering if anyone shoots metal targets?

I bought some and I am going to be setting them up next weekend.

What caliber?  I've got several .22 Cal targets that have survived a bunch of .9mm rounds.

I shoot an old railroad track plate at 300 yards (range limit) and have a .22 rifle spinner.

Oh, yeah should have specified. Pistol calibers. 40, 9mm, 380.

At a minimum, 3/8” cold rolled steel would be the minimum depending on distance and if normal or +p loads, or stationary or spinner.

Yeah, that's what I got. 3/8. A cowboy, and a plain square. I heard that I should paint them with non tox paint, ever hear of that?

This dude has a very neat range s/u with metal gongs, spinners, silhouettes, etc. Also does a lot of handgun reviews.

Here’s mine and the wife’s from a few weeks ago. Steel targets are addicting, way better than punching holes in paper..

I’ve been using old shovels for the .22’s. But picked a set of these I forgot what type of steel it is AR1500? But it’s supposed to be able to handle my 3006 will see.

ground pounder and bowling pins for pistols. rifles steel plates every 100 yrds out to 300 yards at the gun club next door. kind of pointless and boring that close though. i've thought about getting a movable steel gong for the farm so i can put it out to 450+ yards to up the fun factor.
