2018 mushroom hunting

I couldn't find the old mushroom hunting thread so I'm kicking off a new one.

I went out this morning and got drenched, but perseverance paid off.

I walked out of the woods with 54 nice Morels and probably 10lbs of Dryad's Saddle. They are now all nicely put up in the freezer(besides the sampler platter the wife and I enjoyed with dinner).3fc410a975290cdd2f654dd54101598c.jpg31ed62887ad8504b5efe61816c541971.jpg

Awesome find CrappyIce!
Before freezing Morels I steam them for 5 minutes to break down the enzymes that can cause color and flavor deterioration. I then lay them on a baking sheet and toss the pan in the freezer. Once frozen I bag them up.
I'm not sure if that would work for your golden oysters, but I dont see why not.

Finally found 8 big ol' morel mushrooms today on my way out to look for turkeys! A little too late as usual. Still the most I've ever found in one season so I picked them just for bragging rights! :imsohappy:

I’ll trade you my whole counter full for a chance to find a morel which is what I was looking for today.

Pisses me off when this happens to me every year.

I search all spring and by the time I finally find them they are dried out and dissolving already.

My search area was about 100yds too short this year. I would have never thought to look where I stumbled upon these in the open timber

Found my first "Dead Mans Fingers" ...or "Xylaria Polymorphas" today!

They make the perfect hand model for one of my carved antler skull rings....Muuuhahahahahaha!!!

Not sure what the other ones are. Found them on a stump in the yard while mowing today.
