Hogweed or not ?

Two spots we fished yesterday were laden with it. Or queens annes lace ? Big n bushy. Did find a big plant in como lake park on the island ( local ) that was in play of disc golf course. Reported that one and DEC came to remove. Confirmed hogweed

hard to clearly see from the pics but doesn't look like it to me.  Doesn't appear to be enough rays on the flower head  the stems look pure green (no purple). I'd think cow parsnip from these pics.

That is most likely Giant Hogweed. Stay away from it!

We have it at camp. One area is pretty big, contacted DEC but they never came. Neighbor been spraying it but it always seems to come back.

Cow parsnip is a caustic plant also...The DEC tolerates it because it is a native plant, while the related giant hogweed is an invasive species....

I treat any of these look alike plants as hogweed, just to play it safe. Would hate to find out the hard way.

The DEC. want photos sent to them, as they have made several wild goose chases. Hogweed has quite a root system that needs to be removed or it will grow back. The DEC. won't remove it any longer, but will discuss management options. They should do that on their Web site.

Yes I believe they did talk to my neighbor about controlling it. I gues he is not doing a good job! lol
