Anti Bacteria Products, Attractants & Cover Scents

Still just old fashioned Ivory soap. Shower with it, shave some off for washing my hunting clothes. When I wash my deer hunting clothing, I do run a few empty loads through the washer with some of the shavings, to get rid of other smells. I don't know it it works wonders, but if you are using any of that top dollar scent control in a washer and still have stink form your normal washing you defeated the purpose.

Thats neat and all but some boys at that age would stick their nose into a bag of Salt ad Vinegar chips...  Young and dumb at times.

JMO, but this discussion should consider the intrusion factor. If you only go onto a hunting property 2-3X during the off season and then hunt it in Oct & beyond, I believe the deer sense a strange smell and are nervously aware of it as a potential danger. Conversely, if you check cams, ride ATVs, have work details, etc a couple times a month during the summer, the deer become more accustomed to those smells and DO NOT perceive them as a threat or danger. Sort of goes along the same lines as putting up a new stand. Deer will be very wary of it at 1st, until they recognize it as a "non threat", when they'll leisurely walk past it.

Obviously, I'm not going to be able to walk up & feed or pet a deer!!! I've watched their reaction to my frequent intrusions as they basically are bounding off to a safe distance and watching my travel direction.

I'm a frequent intruder, but common sense tells me to try and eliminate/mask/minimize my "carried-in" odors, at least while hunting.

Lye has an odor,  which is most bar soaps bases.

Absolutely ,they know a strange scent right away ,if they consider that new scent an alarm then it's gonesville for them.

I think they make a scent free Ivory liquid. There are ways to make your own soap, bar soap, without using lye. But it's expensive. Every summer I think about making real apple scented soap, then I look at the cost and pass.

... or just wear your street clothing and fill your pockets with corn. A $10 bag will fill a lot of pockets. Kidding of course!!!

There are all kinds of people getting rich selling us expensive chemical products that we buy without a single drop of real proof that they even work (other than the manufacturer's word for it). I have had this vision of Tink Nathan with a beer in one hand filling bottles of Tink's 69 with the other.....lol. And then there are all these people claiming that spraying their magic potion all over yourself will make your scent disappear. We spend the money, but how do we prove that it works? Special body soaps? ...... Special laundry detergents? Guaranteed attractants? So many things to tempt us into handing over our hard earned cash. Sure, I've done it too and quite often felt foolish when I started to realize that there is absolutely no way that I could ever prove whether it worked or not. Even when you have a successful outcome, there is no way that it wasn't just that deer's time to walk by.

I have laid my hunting cloths on top of the feed corn in the barrel a few times. Cloths come out smelling like corn. And no. my pockets on an accident do not fill up. Also have used number two apples in a barrel. Draws to  many bugs when it warmer.

I still use my Scent Away products though. They just smell good.

Actually there is a ton of studies and science behind it.  And it's not like breaking the bank.  Scent free shampoo and deodorant is the same price as regular and the descent sprays are relatively cheap. So why not use it.  Any little extra edge.
