Safety harness

Im looking for some advise on finding a good treestand safety harness for bow hunting. Half my shot   opportunities are behind me, so I need to have free range of motion. I bought a harness a few years ago, and took it to my stand during preseason to practice shooting. I tried all kinds of adjustments, but I could not make any shots behind me due to limited range of motion.....What are you guys using?

I have always had the same problem with turning around. This year Im going to pick up the Gorilla G30, which has a longer strap that allows more movement.

Be careful about having a lot of slack in the line . If you have too much , you could snap your back on a fall .

I have a HSS and fasten the tether strap about head high to the tree . It gives me just enough room when sitting and plenty when standing . No problem . I bought a Rescue One CDS harness and plan to use that this year .

One of the responses on another site by a poster was , " I never wear a harness because I have never fallen of come close to falling " . I wish him good luck .

Thinking about it...My tree stand might be causing the problem. Its a hang on that does not have a folding seat. So when im standing I am kinda far from the tree. But there is no way im getting rid of this stand...It feels like your in a Lazy Boy, because the back rest is at an angle.

I like my Gorilla vest, very used to it. Gotta say though last year I went up for a week and forgot one of the straps for it, so I used the back-up. That was the included harness with the Gander ladder stand. It was a breese to use and didn't feel restricted at all.

I have a HSS which I used a few years. Lately I just use the ones that come with the stands. I don't have any issues with them .

For the first 15 years or so I just used a doubled up rope, clove around the tree and bowline around me......

I bought the Gorilla G3 and I am going to also pick up the Tree Spider Live Wire to use with it. If you guys havent seen the Live Wire yet, youll want to take a look. Its a hands free decent system that is separate from your harness or vest and it can be used with any vest or harness out there.

I use the HSS Pro Series and have no problems turning around or the harness getting in my way. I do use the optional rope style tree strap though, which allows me to move around more. Also bought both my kids one. I see they now have the HSS Ultra-light Extreme, which is much smaller, lighter, and more compact. On sale at Cabelas for $109.

I would also HIGHLY recommend using some type of Lifeline for climbing and descending. This would have saved me from a 20' fall 2 years ago, while I was stepping from my pegs onto the platform! NOT pretty.............
