Bionic
I cooked a couple over-mediums in the pan last weekend, and zero stick, used a pinch of butter. Worked well.
Big Indian
Olive oil is my go to....just a little history on cast iron cookware. Not sure if it’s true, but I was told by an old Italian friend that people never got anemia back in the day, because of the iron in cast iron pans and other cookware

Not sure if it’s true, but I was told by an old Italian friend that people never got anemia back in the day, because of the iron in cast iron pans and other cookware Its true, but; Acidic foods and those that contain vitamin C are required to really take advantage of the iron. Iron from other food sources like red meat are absorbed different in the body, the vitamin C helps in absorption. I was diagnosed severe anemic due to advanced Celiac disease and cooking on some old cast iron is part of my program to increase iron intake, but its just a very small part for me. For those that screw up and burn something in their pans; just throw the whole thing into a fire or woodstove. You'll burn out all the carbon and oils and you start with the pan like when made. Then season as usual with several heating and cooling cycles. (I use a high temp oil myself)
crappyice
Interestingly today (as per usual weekend breakfast) I whipped up some venison breakfast sausage in my caste iron, cracked two eggs over the top, covered to cooked the tops a bit and they stuck?!? Not sure what went on there- I may have some brown sugar in the breakfast sausage but I wouldn’t expect that be an issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

airedale
The top of my wood-coal cookstove is cast iron, it has to be wiped down with cooking oil from time to time the same as a fry pan to season or it will rust. I use regular pots and pans for cooking but cooking directly on the top can be done. I like using it for toast, way faster than the electric toaster. Marion
So my Butler spent Saturday or maybe it was Friday I can't remember think it was Saturday. Anyways Winston spent the day fixing up my new Cast iron pan. And after 5 seasonings I think it's looking quite nice!
