New fall food plots

i think if i was just going to plant trails i would just seed it heavy with rye

Set posts for gate on my driveway yesterday . Can't believe how dry it still is after the rains we had last week. Newest plot has rye  coming up about 2 inches tall . Checked all my stands and replaced straps . Moved one . Putting up 3 blinds this afternoon. Then I'm done for the year . Next weekend I will hang the gates.

Probably  just passing through.  Have to go to crossbow season before  I can hunt .  But yes that gets my blood pumping to be in the woods .

Had you planted radishes in that area before this plot ? Have you had much freezing weather. I understood that they wouldn't pull radishes before they froze converting starches  to sugar .

I have planted radishes etc previously 4 yrs now in different spots in my field.  First year they didn’t hit them hard til cold weather.  They dug them up all winter.  Now 3 years later she has been raised on them so they seem to wait til they pop thru the soil before they start pulling them which is now.

By late November the radishes will split and during warm spells you will see the splits covered in ants cause they are sweet that’s when they are the best draw.

That's interesting.  I was just thinking about next years foodplots. I'm going to go with the same plan as this year . Hopefully  get  seed in earlier  and more rain .
