Sir-diealot
So what is wrong with this tree and what kind is it? I think I know but I am going from a memory from almost 34 years ago. Edit: Thank you for the help, it is a Ash tree as I suspected and the Emerald Ash Borer got to it as I had also expected. I will let the lady that asked me for help with it know tomorrow. genesee_mohican
Looks like it's an ash tree and it has been infested by the Emerald Ash borer bug.

Sir-diealot
Thank you everyone, I thought it was an ash tree because I remember cutting them years ago with my father in our firewood business, but I was 16 when he died (86) so I was not sure my memory was correct on the type of tree. If the tree was correct I had figured that is what it was, though I had never had any dealings with the Emerald Ash Borer so I was not sure about that either. Thank you all very much for your help.
