Storing clothes

At my new house I store my hunting clothes in totes, I use to hang them in my basement at other house. 

They stunk when I took them out last year so I had to wash them. It was a funky smell. I washed the totes before putting hunting clothes away. 

They stunk again! Why? Is it the totes or the room I am keeping them in?

Were the clothes completely dry before you stored them ?

Well does the basement stink ? Damp ? Run a humidifier. If its damp bag the clothes before they go into totes 

Are the clothes clean and completely dry.

If its none charcoal  lined you could add some baking soda or a cover scent such as pine boughs or dirt .

I still air them out on a line the day before season .

Everything was dry. I don't keep much in this basement because of the dampness, I have a dehumidifier running since I bought house

Unless the totes are airtight they will take in the dampness and smell in the basement

Totes don't tend to be air tight so they will pick up odors . Find a tote gasket  sealed or bag them before storage . Dry clothes will take on moisture from the air.

I had to think on this, I did not shoot one rabbit last season. I think the totes not being air tight and the room I store them in. 

I ordered the vacuum storage bags last night
