  1. Not a whitetail? So the referenced articles are inaccurate? If so, that's really terrible. I appreciate you entertaining my questions - you are uniquely positioned to share a different perspective than most and, in the spirit of continuous learning, I can personally benefit by having some insight into that perspective.

  2. Just put a camera on the food plot facing some giant pines and beautiful sky. Cut a lot of trees for better view of plot and set the camera on 2" PVC pipe hammered into the ground. 1st pict is a nice one just as shooting time ended. Have a ladder stand in woods 40 yards out and a ground blind 20 yards in field.

  3. And Thanks for the positive words to the haters. Sure that didn’t leave a great taste in their mouths. They said Jefferson Cty in the write up and it was 90 plus miles away. Red deer in a closed herd since 2006 with huge Restaurant sales and meat market sales. Nothing hunting related.

  4. I hadn't shot my Center Point 370 since last year . I took it out back this afternoon and shot it at 20 , 25 and 30 yards . No adjustment needed . I still have the original scope that came with the crossbow . No need to spend big bucks that will do the same .

  8. Another great day to enjoy the sunrise, with the mild temperatures. Enjoy it while it last; next week, colder with snow. A few visitors stop by to say hello.

  9. Yeah, but when you do connect, the feeling of accomplishment is overwhelming. There is no need to count points or measure up score when all the rest of the hunt is done with some of the most stringent handicaps imaginable. Some of the most intense deer hunts have been from the ground with a few does and their fawns checking me out. One set of eyes will get the old ticker beating, but when you are trying to overcome multiple noses and eyes and ears from the ground, you start to learn about real challenge.

  15. One of the most important tools for butchering is a set of good quality knives. I have a set made by Outdoor Edge, they work well but they do not seem to hold an edge long and need frequent sharpening. I have a really nice quality USA Cutco fillet knife that I also use for processing, one of the best boning knives I have ever used. Al

  16. The weather has been absolutely beautiful, It has been quite a few years since I had a small game hunting season like this one, the small game population has been very good providing a lot of action. The Squirrels have come back in big numbers, have flushed several Grouse but have not taken one yet, knocked off a Cottontail Rabbit and made a heck of a shot with my Remington 541 on a Crow this week so far. The Crow's wing was busted and he hit the ground running into the woods, I went back to my house and got my Airedale pup Ruff and put him on the track, what a nice job he did tracking that crow and I was surprised on how far that crow ran before the pup caught him, blood tracking Deer will be like rolling off a log for this guy.
