Problem is it's not dead. The argument is alive as ever. Wish it would be dead

As Puddy on Seinfeld used to say "Yea that's right".....comic relief, lol

I actually mark trees surrounding my treestands. I use light yellow paint. Just a spot on a couple at 20, then red at 30

In the last 20 yrs there have certainly been advances in speed and letoff. Back in the late 90s bows I owned were 50 60% letoff. Shooting 300fps was only accomplished with 70 lb bows shooting dangerously light arrows. I'm twenty yrs older at 65 and can hold my PSE compound longer than my Matthews Solo cam of early 2000s

Yea the CB vs VB war in NY has been a long bloody one that hurts everyone involved and causes division. Many in our ranks expect you to walk lock step on every single issue with them, and I you don't on one single issue your attacked, which pushes people away in general. But I agree, the CB vs VB issue is definitely in need of some comic relief

20 Yrs from now xbow technology will be where regulation keeps them. Draw Weight, width, etc. You could use the same argument on what advances we'll see in Verts in 20 years also. After all look what the last 20 has brought with Verts. Today with NYs regs the one advantage I see CBs having is not having to draw in the presence of game. That's about it. That can even be argued when someone is in an elevated blind where deer can't see you draw.

Oh I apologize. I thought you were serious and going to lead into the huge differences in CB and VB. LMFAO!!

Another great option is keep a few pieces of split firewood around your feet. I use 3 pieces. Put my foot up on wood and rest my elbow on my knee for a super secure steady rest. Shooting sticks are another item that has to be grabbed at that important moment and shifted into position possible making noise or causing other fumblef*ckery

Exactly what I said, there's a big difference between a MZ and a CB

Big difference between a MZ and a CB.

Surely you jest.

Actually they are pretty good and I've gone back to them. Bought 2 last season. A little tricky to fold up but they look like a little pile of brush in the woods, low profile. Unlike hub blinds which look like a shed in the woods and need lots of brushing in. Super easy to put up. They aren't that great for bow, a bit tight and low. Good for xbow n rifle

I'm pretty sure Ohio has had full inclusion since something like the 1970s. Now get ready for all the "Well Ohio's season is a Disaster" crowd to chime in.
-
Good question.
-
There's Smiths that will do it. You just have to find them word of mouth. I had a guy in Islip NY many yrs ago that would rebarrel and precision head space rifles for a reasonable price.
-
While your at it put a nice stainless Shilen Select or Match Grade barrel on that R700 and turn it into a sniper rifle.

What Are Your Goals for the 2021 Season?
Gobbler Chaser replied to Splitear's topic in General Hunting
My goal is not giving a sh*t about anything but hunting from Oct 1st till after the holidays this season. Heck it's only 3 freakin months, leave a guy alone. -
Ahhh, I remember the days calling in from my cell phone.. When the weather was good and the wind right I wasn't worth a sh*t when it came to reliability. Everyone kinda knew what to expect from me during hunting season.

Don't think I'd want it or have any use for it and I'm an old time Excalibur guy. But only the old Canadian manufactured ones. Funny how as soon as they sold out to some corporation limbs started exploding.
-
You had to go there! LMAO!!

Who else has trouble with the DEC online lic purchase?

This is a great discussion on deer jumping the string and how xbow speeds can make a dramatic difference on putting an arrow into the vitals or not

I would really have to see what you describe as all these additional hunters lining up on federal land with crossbows to believe it. I hunt state land in NY and after Thanksgiving weekend of rifle you lucky to see a hunter. Even opening week isn't anything like that here in NY and I'm only 90 mins from Manhattan. If full inclusion will bring all these new hunters into the woods than that just might be what we need with dwindling hunter numbers. Truth is if full inclusion ever happens your vertical bowhunter ranks will drop because they are moving to xbows and you'll get a small percentage of gunner only hunters who will hunt crossbow.
-
I really have to wonder why anti crossbowers believe that the sky would immediately fall following full inclusion when it hasn't done any such thing in any other state around us.

Didn't ask for disclosure. You did disclose your 60 yr old mother had mild Covid symptoms and had both rounds of Phizer. Beats being put in an induced coma and having a pipe forced down your neck. As I said, good thing she got vaxxed. That's all
