  1. It’s not too hard, we can always look to the right for inspiration when the going gets tough
  2. I have no problem with anyone showing support for their candidate. I have a few Biden decals on my car and am waiting on my lawn sign. However, a few days ago, this flag showed up on a house down the street. I just can’t help but see it as at least a little distasteful.... Oh well, it’s a free country.
  3. My uncle used to hunt with a Super Red Hawk in .44mag. Nice gun, and he killed many deer with it. I always preferred my S&W 29 in 44mag though.
  4. Hey man, you’re not combative, you’re passionate about this, and I respect that. I appreciate your response.
  5. I know, I know, no one has been tougher on, been better for, or done a better job...
  6. Capping the evening off with a small fire, a few fingers of Talisker and a good book.
  7. Hand cut chops on the Weber, stewed kale and garlic and boxed pasta salad. Oh, and a bottle of 19 Crimes.
  8. Everything I’ve read is that unleaded works fine, but may gum up the line eventually. I’ll stick with white gas though no more than I’ll be using it. I’ll eventually win an old lantern at the auction as well.
  9. White gas (camp fuel). I should be able to use regular unleaded, though I would imagine it doesn’t burn as clean, that’s just a guess though.
  10. Last week the Ballston Spa Auction House has their first Sportsman Auction since March. I went in and left a few bids, one being for this old Coleman camp stove, without knowing much about it. I ended up winning it, and after a little research, I’ve learned that this particular model was made between 1947-1949, this one probably being ‘47 with the badge. I fired it up tonight and made a cup of coffee with my old Comet percolator. The thing ran like new. It’s just so cool to me to see old stuff like this doing the job it was built to do.
  11. I’m sorry I don’t video proof of this for you, but I can assure you this did happen. I don’t know if you’ve ever visited Southeastern Illinois, but it is small, I mean, really small. If you fart in the grocery store it’s possible to make the 2nd page of the Albion newspaper. This individual was sent to prison (sorry I don’t know for how long) for dang near beating his son to death. The kid was a couple of years younger than my little brother. I apologize that I cannot draw you a picture to set the scene, but trade days is just a bunch of guys set up on their tailgates at the Geff coon club selling anything from guns to junk beagle dogs. I looked at the sellers stuff, including the gun that was purchased. As my dad and I were making a 2nd round, we saw the sale take place, and the said felon take his gun and walk off down the road. It’s possible that the seller didn’t know, the swap meet is in Wayne County, I, and the buyer were from Edwards County, the next county over. People came from all over as well, so I’m assuming he didn’t know. Actually, the guy ended up getting sent back to prison a couple of years later for shooting up his ex wife’s house with a .22. If you don’t believe me, it’s no skin off my nose. Could I have called the cops or stepped in, sure. At 19, I or my dad could have stepped in, but we didn’t. Call the cops? It would have taken about 45 minutes to get home and call (this was over 15 years ago). Contacted the event organizer? Haha, you have no idea what kind of event this is. Maybe one of the coon club members was up at the clubhouse selling biscuits and gravy, but they wouldn’t have done anything. Again, think what you wish, it doesn’t bother me. However, I stand where I stand in UBC.
  12. Very cool. You got a new subscriber on my end

    Outed

Middle-left lefty would be more accurate
  14. We used to spread turnips (with potash as a carrier) into standing corn late in the summer with an airplane. After the corn was harvested, you could turn cattle out on it. Worked great, but you had to seed heavy.
  15. Looks great, and Jeremy’s suggestion would look killer.
  16. According to the product descriptions, the Viper SD is 20lbs and the Goliath SD is 21lbs. Mine is about 7or 8 years old, so I think it’s probably heavier. I’ve never had any issue packing it, I just have to be careful not to clang around when trekking through the woods.
  17. The videos that are being shown are insane.
  18. I’ve always used Summit climbers, and love them. My current is a Goliath, and I’ve been using it for years. Nothing wrong with it, so need to replace anything but the cables from time to time. Just make sure you have a good foldable hand saw to carry for small branches.
  19. Not necessarily, if a Background Check were required for all transfers, then it would cover any private sales as well. Would it make it more difficult to buy/sell a gun, sure, but not that much. We're kind of already used to that in NY. Being someone who owns all of my guns legally, I have no worries about selling a gun, and if I decided to sell one, but found out that the potential buyer was not allowed to own it, I would be thankful that my gun didn't end up in the wrong hands. You're points are perfectly valid, and I really can't argue them, especially the infringement point. However, it doesn't change my support for UBC.
  20. I'm not going to disagree with you, those illegal purchases need to be enforced. Who does that fall to? Law enforcement, ATF, judges, all of the above? I don't have an answer to that. As I said before, I have witnessed individuals who were not allowed to own firearms purchase firearms from law-abiding gun owners with no issue. I used to attend a monthly swap-meet "Geff Trade Days" and saw a widely know convicted child abuser purchase a handgun from an unknowing (at least I hope) seller. The guy purchased a 9mm and ammunition and walked off down the road. Had Illinois required a background check, that sale would have never happened. Could he still purchase a firearm from the black market, sure, but would it be more difficult, I would imagine so. In my opinion, it's not that big of a deal, and it doesn't hurt anything to help keep guns only in the hands of the good guys. I should say, I agree with you on sentencing for illegal gun runners.
  21. Currently only 13 states require background checks for all firearm sales. My home state of Illinois has no such requirement, and I have witnessed firsthand folks that I know should not possess a firearm purchasing them from law-abiding gun owners. If UBC were passed, those sales would have been required to go through a transfer process, which would have prevented that sale.
