Just need the lifetime muzzy and I am set for life!!! Just hope I get good use out of it!!!

They work good just need to make sure you get one's that stay on after the shot. Much easyer to find after the shot... Some are brighter than others and each one has thier own way of working. They keep improving them so try some new one's if you get a chance... (And always shoot at dif targets when practicing...) I like one's that stay on so IF the deer runs and the arrow is still in him you can see it better through the woods, easyer to find if it passes through too. Welcome to the site Prowler700!!!

What are you doing to prep for the 2012 Hunting Season?
NFA-ADK replied to burmjohn's topic in General Hunting
Took a few weeks off from shooting my bow, due to shoulder stress and excessive house work... Went to a 3D shoot at Suffolk archers Sunday and shot a 272, good score... Still able to hit the targets effectivly out to 65 yards. I do my scouting while bow hunting... I will start to shoot the guns next week or two to avoid the LI shooting crowds when southern zone opens up... No tree stands, blinds, food plots, or trial cam's to set up, but I might bring my climber for a choke point I like and I am thinking about setting up some cam's for bow season that can be checked when I come back for rifle... 10 weeks 3 days and counting untile opening of bow!!! OMG I am a addict!!! Wonder if they have a deer hunting pill, am I the only one who has lost a full night of sleep the day before going up hunting? I just submitted my vacation, 1 week for bow and two for rifle, all in the ADK this year. Sep 27th- Oct 3, Nov 5-13, Nov 23-Dec 2nd, hope work appoves it all... Nov 5-9 and sep 27-30 are set in stone... -
Sportsmen Strongly Support DEC adoption of Yearling Buck Protection
NFA-ADK replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Meatmuzzy don't be afraid to post what you believe in even if it stirs the pot a little bit, so what... It is just a forum and that is what they are for... Posting opinions or perspective on something we are involved in and passionate about... Personaly I believe in AR restrictions and have my own I follow. Hearing the guys in Penn state right next to us claiming the deer are amazing and large is what I like to hunt and is proof enough that AR's work for me. Many did not like AR's untile a few years later when they started taking a larger class of deer. Call me a trophy hunter a bad hunter or just a antler hunter I do not mind... I feel this would be a better way to get a more healthy heard which in part can equate to larger healthy deer. Will this gaurantee you will shoot a large deer, NO, just because you have a better age structure does not make the deer easyer to hunt. As a matter of fact, I would argue that the deer are harder to hunt because they get smarter with age... In so far as the fighting between dominant bucks, yes in a healthy heard some will die from fights and this would not be uncommon with a healthy larger heard. Most bucks are very familliar with the antlers they have and thier status in a group. If a young buck challenges a large mature deer that has not mated a doe yet, he is filled with testosterone and will kill that young deer if he does not back down or show enough respect to leave him alone and get out of his area. In so far as me and every other hunter who support AR restrictions, I can say that most of them do not expect to shoot a 10 year old deer with no teeth because if this implementation. That is a pretty unrealistic view IMO. Dealing with everyday joe public, I would say that most who are against AR restrictions just want to be able to shoot anything that comes down the pipe... And could care less about the heard and the health of them. I have to say I am disgusted with every day Joe public. Every day joe public will shoot anything, does not matter if it is legal, they will poach, ride in vehecles with a loaded gun and shoot from the vehecle. They could care less about deer, the heard or thier health and are more concerned with being able to shoot thier gun and say they shot a deer this year. I consider myself a highly ethical hunter, I am sure most would put me in the trophy hunting group... 1)I do not shot doe in low populations of deer and encourage the culling in high populations that need it. 2)I do not shoot spikes ever and consider anything with 2 or less points young and allowed a free pass 3)I follow the rules to the best of my ability and try to understand them... 4)I will mentor a youth 5)I do not impose my hunting ethics on others yet I will try to educate them as to why I hunt like I do. In so far as having AR restrictions for spikes, I think they should have started the AR with this instead of the 3 pt system. Will this impove your heard, I do not know. Each area as most of us know varies between habitat and terian making some area's more prone to having better benifits from AR restriction. I am sure many will toss insults at me and call me a antler hunter and tell me you still want to put meat in your freezer and this will prevent that. Realize I do not point my finger at anyone on this site saying that you poach or hunt from your vehecle or do not care about your deer. But the general feeling I get from most hunters is regulations are for other people and not me which leads me to believe most hunters just want to shoot something, regaurdless of weather food is the justification or not... I do not think this should be a state wide implementation and even if enacted people should be allowed to take any legal deer for food if it is justified. EX: anyone making less than 100K per household is allowed to shoot anything lega the 1st 2 years. This would still allow those who need deer for meat to get them and hopefully allow enough deer to reach the restrictions so in 2 years it would not be needed... Sorry for the attitude but as you can see every day Joe public has kinda pissed me off, they just do not seem to care about deer, just being able to shoot a deer. Am I the only one who feels bad after shooting an animal? No, I hope... -
I would sell my guns, bows, truck, and both boats before I even thought about selling my buck if I was in desparate need of money. I can understand the need if it is warrented due to unsurmountable bills. I hunt for the enjoyment of nature and the outdoors, due to the fact that I do not get to do this as often as I would like, the mounts I have bring me into the relm of alternate reality of being in the woods... Making each mount a special time in my life that I can look back on and reminice about the good old days. To sell them to pay for the bills or kids school or what ever was needed would be my last option after selling everything else I owned... Except for the house, I think... Like some have said if I was in desparate need I would do the same thing, does not make him a bad person... I personaly could not do this unless it was an excessive amount that would insure I could retire... To each his own I guese... Each person puts a value on a object, not sure I could price tag my deer... Some things are just priceless...

Archery season is all bows, compound, recurve or long bow unless they changed the regulations... -
Kinda makes me glad I hunt up North on public land. After getting banned from a 600 acre property for not likeing the fact that the owner baits. I was kicked off the land as I exclaimed to my friend "I need to find more hunting property" that was after I let the bear go that the land owner said not to shoot, yet he had to shoot it because it was eating his bait for deer... My friend must have told the land owner I wanted to find more land and was enough for him not to invite me back, so be it. This was suppose to be one of my full weeks of bow hunting last year that never happened even thought they knew I wanted to hunt it, SO BE IT. I only go where I am welcome and will never go back to this area, sucks because the land was nice with the golf course and farm below it making it ideal habitat... Although I have had some instances where hunting up North was no better than being in an orange army it is usually remote enough to have very few instances... And tresspassing is something I do not worry about because I can not hike more than 15 miles in a day to get back to a town... Tree Guy You are FUNNY!!! Thanks for the laugh!!! I need that today.

Ok I am off like a fart in a windstorm!

Tresspassers will be shot, survivors will be prosecuted... Wow glad I stayed out of this one. And I wanted to some day own my own land, just not south of Albany... If not for a few circumstances I would be living in Hope NY right now... Funny I debated getting land in the lower antler restricted area's, so much for that... One thing I would like to say is be happy you can afford to own the land you have. While dealing with tresspassing is a pain in the neck it is something you have to deal with at one point of another if you are in a area with high population or well traveled area. How about this sign: SHOOTING RANGE: NO TRESSPASSING, this way if they get shot they were warned before they commited the illegal act... If I tresspass on a rifle range and get shot who is liable, can I sue or be sued?

Who needs to worry about gators when one of these is swimming around

Very cool, good luck if they get the youth hunt going this year. Love the pose in the 1st pic, and the war paint! Looks like you have 2 outdoor enthusiast, glade they enjoy it! Funny how after I see a black bear in the day time, everything looks like them in the night time!!! Makes my walk back in the dark very interesting...

I have used the bow during muzzle loader season. It is legal. A early or late season for black powder is still bow season... I think the DEC will have that in the regulations this year. Does not matter to me what they change for I will be in the ADK for opening of bow... Just wish I could get some snow this year for rifle season.

Good luck FairGame, I look forward to seeing you with him later this year!!! -
Make them all wear BO... It will protect us all! Please save us from our selves... Mandatory BO on all vehecles so they are seen by drivers better, this will save many lives... Come on big brother make more laws to restrict our freedoms... Next no smoking while driving, No drinking anything, No eating anything, windows must be rolled up at all times so the wind does not distract you with it's sudden changes... Babble babble babble... When are the camera's going up on every street corner to keep us better protected? O wait that all ready started... One coming to your block soon.

I am looking forward to prescouting during the early season sep dates. I consider bow hunting in the ADK more of a scouting trip to find big tracks and doe... When I tell people I still hunt the ADK with a bow I get that funny look... I let all doe pass as the area population is not very high, if I find a large group I might take a doe with last years tag, doubtful... I might even try suffolk this year as the short ride is easyer than a 6 hour trip up north and can be done as a day trip... If I can get over my Lyme/tick phobia.

Welcome aboard! Great site, hope you like it as much as I do!

OK so I will have 2 custom knives... Thanks Joe!
-
Owch, hope the benedryl works!!! Feel better!
-
Well worth the wait, that fawn was funny!
-
Very cool!!! Good luck with those big one's!!!

That is realy nice and much cheaper than the Beniot custom knives, yet to have a knife made by a legend is something I am contemplating very deeply!!! Nice workmanship!!! My biggest fear is loosing one of these sweet blades... I have finished the 1st two Benoit DVD's not sure If I can resist getting through all of them before I order a knife... Not affordable at this time... IF When you use it this year you had better put this in the pictures!!! Looking forward to seeing it next to your traditional bow and a nice buck!!! What a picture!
