  1. these little guys wouldn't leave, got some video I'll add later
  2. I agree 100% them avian x decoys are unreal, I've had hens pop down in front of my jake waiting to be bred I've always been cheap, so cheap dekes it was, I've had longbeards on a dead run, stop once they seen my old decoys, I've also killed a lot of birds with cheap decoys, however, once you have the extra cash, buy the good ones, I've seen a dozen birds killed this morning over Avian X
  3. sat in the rain for 3 hours never seen a bird, move to a different spot, fired one up, set the dekes, sat down this one started gobbeling where I just walked in, the hole hunt lasted 15min, and I watched him strut for 10min behind me, he stuck his head out to gobble I spun and let the 10g eat best part, I walked in the house, my wife asks what I forgot, I was gone maybe a hour, fun hunt

  5. this was a boar, every picture I've seen shows there were NO testes on this one looks like it was cut and released at some point,
  6. yes this is true, it's BS, but true they had a big write up in outdoor news a couple years ago, can't pick a flower or eat a wild apple
  7. grow, most deed restrictions are useless, the house I bought had a restriction that it could never be owned by anyone outside the sellers family, my lawyer, took 2 hours to have it resolved my buddies place had a deed restriction, no hunting on his land, haha, that worked the guy that owns the farm I hunt on died last year, his kids would have broke the farm up and it would have been developed, never going to happen now
  8. one of my big farms is in Land Trust, there's NO restrictions on hunting, fishing or trapping, it just cant ever be developed, the landowner Did not want it developed, good for him, I'm tired of houses going up every where
  9. Belo, no houndsman will tolerate a dog that shows any aggression toward humans, a good hound will run coyotes all day and kill when needed, then be your kids best friend
  10. there is quite a bit of land in the area that's great hunting, however most was bought by developers, with a few old world families that own land, however they don't work the land the farms I hunted as a kid are housing complexes, the main reason a lot of the land remains undeveloped, was the economy crash a few years ago, there's still a bunch of $$$$$$$ houses sitting empty it's pretty sad state of affairs
  11. OK first thing you need to know, there's really NO farms in the area open to hunting / actually there's 2 but deer leave for the city limits by the time gun opens, I coyote hunted them this weekend and never cut a set of deer tracks the majority of the land open is Cornell land, buttermilk and treman park, that's how Cornell was able to set up the program the rest of the open land is owned by developers, Ithaca keeps growing and spreading into the countryside the average guy will never find private land, simply because there's just not that much available and the local hunters really aren't hunting, just guys from out of town, the major deer population is in areas you can't hunt,
  12. well, everyone who wants to head shoot a coyote, let me know how that works out for you once you shoot a few you'll understand, they don't ever stand still, especially when your calling every shot opertunity is different, you might get 2 out of 50 that you can head shoot, the rest body shots don't worry about it now, when they come in you'll know what he's going to give you, and take what he gives, head, neck, shoulder or ribs your only going to get a few seconds,
  13. looks good and good luck, I sighted my 204 in yesterday, I'm very happy with it, mine has the detachable mag and accustock, I set my trigger a 2 pounds
  14. My Wife loves liver, I HATE IT it's the same with goose, some love it, some hate it it's something you have to try, to know what you like, I've roasted them not to bad, jerky is great
  15. I wish I had all the money back I wasted on lights over the last 20 years the best advice, get the best, cry once, buy cheap and cry every time you have to upgrade, this is the best scanning light I've ever used, and I have 10 or so still laying around the barn http://nighteyeslights.com/led-headlamp-kit as for gun lights you can get some pretty good ones, there all pretty similar http://nighteyeslights.com/led-gun-light-kit http://shop.boondock-outdoors.com/Wicked-Lights-W400-GREEN-light-with-Battery-and-AC-Charger-cord-Wicked-GREEN-W400-Scan-light-onl.htm http://shop.boondock-outdoors.com/Elusive-Wildlife-Technologies-XLR250-flashlight-only-EWT-XLR250-Fl-only.htm if you look around ebay you can find similar lights for 20 or 30$
