Question For The Successful Hunters So Far
verminater71 replied to SportsmanNH's topic in Bow Hunting
either you're not looking real good or you're lucky, i hunt 7R, 7H and 7J April, 1 day walking our local trout stream i picked up around 15 during turkey season i had over 100 and since deer season has stated i've found over 50 on me when i tell you i've only had around 8 get in my skin before i found them in the last year, i consider myself lucky -
Night hunting for coyotes - gear needed?
verminater71 replied to jrm's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
not sure how long you've been doing this, however over the last 30 years, I've never hunted without a headlamp if you do, you're missing a lot of eye's, turn your headlamp on when you get out of the truck, and don't turn it off until you get back to the truck once you get them in your headlamp cone, turn your gunlight on and bring your gun up, once you hit them with a light, never take the light off them -
Night hunting for coyotes - gear needed?
verminater71 replied to jrm's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
a strong headlamp, my preference http://nighteyeslights.com/LED-headlamps?product_id=50 a good led gun light, green is usually brighter, however it washes out with a light snow falling, I prefer red a good scope 2-7X is plenty, you won't be shooting to far at night personally I don't like lighted reticles, they seem to wash out with the light on also don't overlook a good shotgun, depending on where you're hunting a good shotgun is all you need -
Bog Pod, the best I've ever used, and I've gone through quit a few

I might kill 1 for myself, however I won't be calling them in for anyone else this year the numbers here are the worst I've seen in 20 years, I'll get an early start on the walleye

Buttermilk and Treman park hold some excellent hunting Connecticut hill has some deer, however the numbers are extremely low, huge wilderness, with poor food supply = low numbers, add the high coyote numbers and a couple tough winters, and it's long days watching leaves fall

sorry I'm calling B.S I get checked for lead levels every year, and have done so for 21 years, I also pick an additional 3 employees to be checked as well with zero lead levels I work with my hands in lead every day, I've eaten more wild game than most and no for a fact I have eaten shot out of rabbits and still have no lead in my system, every house I've lived in had copper and lead solder joints

I hate it as well, however that's usually a good sign that you have deer I haven't seen a car hit deer in over a year

no just 1, it's a swamp gobbler, it was thick at the base then broke around 3" mark a small portion was left full length, I'm guessing it froze and broke I just came in from 4 straight days of hunting, the population seems really down this year, I hunt 3 counties and all seem the same, some farms got them and some are turkey less -
