bear swamp and summer hill state land are your best option about 10 years ago, the amish moved in and the deer numbers went down, we hunt a 300 acre farm in 7j and I haven't bother to get a tag for that area due to the low numbers of deer, summer hill state land is beautiful, it's also a rifle area, you won't see herds of deer, but there's a few around, and most of the hunters clear out after thanksgiving
  2. shoot it again, the impact should shut it off, if not it's toast
  3. that feeling you got, is exactly why I hunt coyotes, I love it, let's you know your alive imagine they cut loose in the brush 50 yards behind you at 2:00 in the morning, in ptch dark, yup now I'm ready to go with that being said, they won't bother you, if you just stepped out into the feild, you would of seen just how fast they can run
  4. it's not about making excuses, I have no intention of DEER hunting until it cools down yes deer will move, and you might kill one, however I get NO enjoyment sitting in 80deg whether swetting my a** off this is why I was never in favor of opening bow this early,
  5. IMHO, Summit is the best, quiet and fast with that being said, mine is collecting dust, in the barn, I hunted out of a climber for a long time now, I just find it kind of a pain in the a**, it's nice to have my stands ready, climb up and hunt
  6. thanks for sharing lawdwaz, I've never seen one before,
  7. when it cools down, I'm OK with waiting i'll just shoot coyotes to kill the time
  8. here's the problem, a lot of farmers have sold out in the last 10 to 15 years, nice little 20 acre lots, most guys buy there little 20 acres to hunt it can't blame the farmer, they can't make any money, state land seems to have less hunters per square mile than private it's kinda crazy the other problem is all the doe permits, in 7R they give out 38 doe permits per sq mile what's that tell you, a lot of guys come here to hunt you hunt hard you'll kill deer, it's probably not going to be a giant, but you'll get a shot at something
  9. i'm sorry to say, not very good, there's some huge bucks, they're few and far between, some areas hold 20 to 40 hunters per square mile,
  10. Culver, I just had to have a couple of my guys come in and read that best story of the year award
  11. you're wrong it is a past time, I said hunting, fishing and trapping during the summer, almost everynight after work, we take the boat out fishing in the fall, every weekend the family goes hunting middle of winter, i coyote hunt at night now think about how many days you and others spend watching TV, more than 200? i would rather go outside, and I manage to work 50 to 60 hrs a week, during the busy season
  12. the one thing you're missing, it's not about deer season for some of us this year I will hunt, trap or fish around 200 days, try leaving your family home alone that much
  13. this is what happens once they start hunting, they never stop my wife is 5' 120lbs, these were taken with a remington 870 3 1/2" mag steel, she aint no sissy
  14. that will most likely lead to a ticket, ask any poacher, on the wax tags a sharpie will come off with a little alcohol it has to be pen
  15. little guys can get away with most stands, but if you're full grown, like I am, get a summit I've been using summit stands for around 15 years, have gone through several models and IMO, they're the best like fatboy said, the old cobra was awesome, you can climb a lot faster without the front bar however, as I get older I appreciate the front bar a little more, climbs slower, but more comfortable it also makes a great place to lay your bow spend the money on a goliath, and don't look back
  16. 100% agree absolutely shooting before and after legale times, I'll bet 70 to 80% of bowhunters push the limit and opening day of gun season, they start shooting an hour early some years
  17. you said it 100% correct, they're stealing your access call me old fashion, but this would leed to a serious a** beatin, you don't mess with your friends wife, or there hunting ground sounds like some behind the woodshed justice is needed
  18. seems like this is new and a great idea, make most hunters in ny legale Director James Zehringer says 30 minutes of prime hunting time after sunset was added to every day of the deer gun and muzzleloader hunting seasons this year.
  19. i'm sorry, this guys off his rocker, maybe to much acid during his hippie days I feel bad when I see road kill, only because it's a waist, and I would rather take it myself we are the top of the food chain, that simple, I've never felt sad about a kill have you ever watched a pack of coyotes bring down a deer, they don't feel bad, they star yipping and barking they're excited
  20. i put a full size 650 brute force in my colorado no problem, it will fit
  21. Oct will make 20 years at my current job, never called in sick once I have a personal goal to call in sick at least once this year, just to go hunting, can't wait
  22. I've seen 2 reports about his AR shotgun, what I want to know is, where do I get one
  23. you forgot one if a conservative don't like this post he'll just move along if a libtard don't like this post he'll sit here and cry it's not true
