  1. kludes, congrats sounds like you're getting it done stone, that's the best pic of the year
  2. I wasn't going to say but I got a Savage 11/111fcns .204 new layout blind, couple Zink calls wife got an rem 1187 compact
  3. it's a lot of fun, this is my first year really hunting them, had a ton of fun, my wife loves it I'm just south of you Tompkins county, but the birds are staying close to the lake, all my spots are a ways off, good luck the rest of the season, I'm hoping to catch some snow geese this spring
  4. sounds like fun wheelie, we were going today, however all our fields are empty and have been for a few weeks, seems my area is all dried up for the year
  5. again, just to be clear, you can use a centerfire, it just has to be smaller than .22 caliber .204 .17 hornet
  6. shawn, just to be clear it's not .22 or smaller it's smaller than a .22 a .223 is still illegale
  7. I use white hots, and love them, cleanest load I've shot never had a problem loading even after multiple shots, I have a couple wolfs, in case a buddy wants to tag along groups 1 1/2" at 100yards
  8. not true, all my hounds use to eat deer meat, if it were true I would of feed them black angus burger, and sent them out to rustle me home a few head of beef
  9. I'm guessing he found a fox den and either misread the sign or coyotes are looking around for a quick meal, this actually happens pretty often there's some trappers on this site, and some callers and a few houndsman, you'll never get rid of them, however if you want to thin them down a little you might want to try reaching out to the guys with the equiptment, depending on where your property is located someone might be able to help you
  10. this will give you most of your answers http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28888.html you don't need a special class, however you'll need to be able to identify your birds, you'll need to register for HIP nuber you'll need a waterfowl stamp, dick's has them 15$ the season really depends on where you are
  11. and a spike can grow into a 8 or 10 the next year, these stories kill hunting, oh shoot them little bucks they'll never turn into anything, not true they need quality food, that's true, however they need age also
  12. agree 100% multifloral roses? could be one of the best bedding areas you have
  13. the past few years the rut has been a joke, I saw a picture on 11/25 of two mature 10 points bedded together with no does around mature bucks don't tolerate each other when it's breeding season, things are changing and I can't figure it out I hunt 7H, 7J and 7R
  14. just remember every call is different, but your hands are the most important part, I can't call with gloves on has to be bare handed to get the right tone second you can't buy cheap calls and expect to get the sound you want, I tried that with poor results, Fowl Obsession, and Zink are all that's on my lanyard now and it makes a big difference and the most important part, you don't have to sound like a pro, at first I was pretty bad, and still killed geese,
  15. sam, we definately have a few running around this corridor, this one was actually down by elmira that's what surprissed me the most, never seen one down there before I do enjoy watching them from the stand, especialy when there's snow on
  16. I passed on 2 already, no I wouldn't shoot her, one was real cool, all white but 1 brown spot on her head if it had horns, it would be a different story
  17. the time and date are wrong, this was taken Saturday night, it was a pleasant surprise
  18. I've been wearing rubber boots a long time, and tried most brands, I bought a pair of these for use around the house and there all I wear now, cheap, fit good, and warm I'm ruff on boots and these last longer than the others also the holes in the top are great for pulling them on http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/itascatrade%3B-mens-mid-tier-boot-camouflage
  19. remember one thing, just because woman like to hunt don't mean they want to spend there time on hunting sights, my wife loves to hunt, could care less what anyone on a hunting sight has to say, a lot more woman hunting, doesn't mean a lot more woman on hunting sights and meat was the motivation to hunt, hunt or starve, however one thing that has changed, people now understand that deer is a lot more healthy than what they buy in the store, organic is the craze right now, and you can't get much more organic than deer I'm not saying this applies to everyone, however we are seeing something new here
  20. looking good, I would take some scissors and cut a little grass, to sprinkle over the peat moss good luck and remember to take the camera, we love pics
  21. congrats young man that's a beauty
  22. what he said once you find what it likes you'll love it, I have more expensive guns in the safe, however they stay there, because nothing seems to fit like a remington
  23. this wasn't an in the feild guy I'm sure, some dick behind a desk it was the tipline my hometown ECO is a good guy, I don't know the ECO in that county, so I called the tipline, no wonder people don't do that i'm still baffled by this, if you don't have a home address don't bother calling, I thought maybee name and town would be enough I would hate to waist there time with this nonsense, then he says hey I'm trying to HELP YOU OUT, no I'm helping you
  24. alright, so i seen a local scumbag, shot his second buck in a week with his bow so I figure I'll do the rite thing, call dec, they patch me through to 3 different people finally i get the biggest DICK in the world, give him all the information I had he says this is useless information without an address, start telling me I don't know why they pointed you to me and I was waisting his time without an address, I told him we was quit rude and he hung up on me screw it, the first and last time, I try to do the right thing
