  1. I avoid putting any stand in a Pine Tree . Learned the hard way years ago ..I had to take a large black garbage bag and tape it around the tree so I wouldn't be getting any more tree sap on my clothes .
  2. I bought a de-cocking bolt that I take with me in the stand .
  3. No , I do not support full inclusion and I bought a crossbow last year .
  4. Congrats on your 1st Bow Kill .............
  5. You can buy skirts or enclosed covers for the double stands . I have lost count on how many ladder stands we have on various properties .
  6. I was in the woods by 6 am and in my stand by 6:15 . Sat there until 10:30 and never saw a thing . Pulled a couple of trail cam card and went to my car . Got something to eat and drink and chilled for a couple hours . Went to a different stand in the afternoon and got down at 6 pm . Spent 8.4 hours of legal hunting time . Other than squirrels the only thing I saw was a Blue Heron a couple times . I havn't been able to pattern the deer here . sometimes they don't show for 3 , 4 or 5 days . Nothing on a regular basis . It was a bit nippy this am (41 degrees) but warmed up the skeeters were back out around 4 pm and by 6 pm , I could no longer tolerate them . Anyway , I will give my back a rest tomorrow .
  7. Nothing to report today so far Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  8. I hope that I have a lot to report this year .........
  9. I hope you aren't shooting that "Texaco Bow" !
  10. I don't see a problem wearing a back tag and have never lost one . I get a duplicate tag so I wear one on my back and have one on my back pack . Never tore a hole in a shirt or jacket with the tag holders .
  11. Doc --- At our age I wouldn't worry about switching to a left handed bow . I went to bed a 8:30 pm last night and got some sleep . 1st time I was able to do this the night before the season opener .
  12. I have been shooing for the past 3 months when I could tolerate the heat . I have been shooting from my backyard treestand for this past week . As for the OP's post about guys just getting set up , arrows cut , etc , Gun hunters do the same thing . Waiting until the last minute to sight in a shotgun / Rifle . Or borrowing a gun and not being familiar with it . I remember a guy in WalMart a few years ago buying some 20 ga and 12 ga slugs because he was using someone's shotgun the next day and didn't know whether it was a 12 or a 20 . I would have laughed if it had been a 16 .
  13. Those of you that have the Bow Season Sighting log , don't forget to keep track of what you see and mark it down .
  14. Looks like it would have a long Brace Height !
  15. It looks like Global Cooling is finally here !
  16. I will be in Walworth Sunday am FORECAST ------- 42 degrees at 7 am --- 60 by noon - high of 65 at 4 pm -- SW wind in the am Sunrise 7:06 am / Sunset 6:51 pm
  17. I don't want to be close enough to shoot a bear . Hopefully it would amble on and leave the area .
  18. You do NOT have to recertify Long Guns . If you don't recertify your pistol permit gets revoked . "A pistol permit revocation can result in the loss of all firearms including pistols , rifles and shotguns ".
  19. I attended last night's meeting and it was informative . Literature was handed out and a lot was explained . If someone fails to recertify , they can lose their pistol permit and also their long guns . If a letter wasn't received by an individual , it is still up to that individual to do the recertification .
  20. All of my trail cams are on private property . In Walworth , on a friend's property , I have a ladder that I made and I keep it chained to a tree ( not the one a camera is in ) as he only has 9 acres .Presently , I have just one elevated on a tree because there is no way to lock it . I couldn't do that on my SILs 67 acres . Too much work to haul a ladder around .
  21. Yes - apparently many don't understand what has to be done and how to recertify .
