  1. I don't like to use a light when going to my treestands in the dark . I usually try to be in a stand about an hour before sunrise so I can just relax and get my heart rate down to normal . I have at least 3 stands that are hard to find in the dark . I have been considering putting one of those Dollar Store Solar Lights in those stands . Has anyone ever done this ? Several years ago I bought a couple of locator lights designed to assist finding a stand in the dark . It consists of a Red Light that gets lit when you press a button on a remote . It only stays lit as long as you hold the button down . They were a waste of money and I tossed them out . I was bored and the Red Sox lost so I thought I would throw this idea at you .
  2. Nice video . I always thought it would be neat to shoot a deer while on horseback .
  3. Moog ---- Did the deer try to lay down on that sissy liner you have in the truck ?
  4. This stand is in the middle of private property . Someone would have to be pretty ballsy to steal this .
  5. Had dinner at my oldest son'd home in Honeoye Falls today . Before dinner he , my youngest son and myself went to Mendon and set up another ladder stand and checked out 3 other stands while there . Got a chance to wear my camo rain gear that I bought at Tractor Supply last year . It doesn't breathe and was wet on the inside . Live and learn !
  6. No reason to tell us this . What are the GPS coordinates ?
  7. That would make a neat mount . It would be a real conversation piece !
  8. Forgot to mention that I got the 2017 Bowhunter Sighting Log in the mail yesterday . Anyone else get theirs ? It said only 3805 were done last year .
  9. For me , it would depend on the size of the deer . I avoid shooting the little ones . I have also passed on shooting small bucks and because of that have eaten Tag Soup but you do what's right for you . I am not desperate for venison so I can be choosey .... To each his own !
  10. Here ya go Growie . Pics of the stand and from the stand . I left about a 15 foot section of brush between 2 cleared spots along the trail . Also left some limbs up so give me cover in the stand . As for orange strap , I have never had a problem with deer noticing them but I avoid using blue straps . I might hunt from this stand opening morning . The red circle is where I found the antler .
  11. Must have been injured at some point in his life .
  12. Real nice videos Larry ......
  13. TSC has been selling the mats for ages . They also have Stall Mats that are 3/4" thick for $40 . I didn't realize they cost that much as my SIL has her run-in in the barn for the horses covered with these . Can't believe she would have spent that much money on mats . TSC also has a UTV with a dump bed for under 6 grand . Here is the link for it . https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/american-landmaster-trail-wagon-tw450e-series-4x2-utility-vehicle-429cc-efi-engine?cm_vc=-10005
  14. I have a ladder stand back by the ditch at my friend's property in Walworth . With some trees down and dead wood around it might be better to hunt from that stand in the afternoon when I can sneak in quietly . I put up a ladder stand that appears to have deer travel near it . I like to have them around 20 yards from any travel corridors . I will have to go back with the pole trimmer to get a few high branches . I cut down and pulled down a lot of poison ivy . Left the glove I used in the woods . I carried two of the ladder sections , loppers and rachet straps on the 1st trip . I went back for the top seat section and stepped on something about 6' from the tree I was going to put the stand in . It was 1/2 of an antler for an 8 point .
  15. Too bad that all the damn geese don't fly South !
  16. I leave the ATV on the trailer and walk 3/4 mile to a stand . I'll be 76 next week and starting to slow down . When I get a deer , it's the same walk back to the trailer to get the ATV and return . Still waiting for the GVHC to cut the 5' high grass in the Pond Field so I will have a trail to ride on .
  17. The trail is about 25-30 yards from the swamp . My friend bought the property because he likes to duck hunt . Usually the Heron in in the guy's pond .
  18. It will be out on DVD soon . I would go through all of the GoT seasons watching at least 2 episodes a night .
  19. oops ! My bad . I was thinking Colonoscopy .
