  1. My oldest son sold his compound and went to a recurve and has been fairly successful with it . Matt has a Black Widow bow as well as a couple others . The recurves cost as much as compounds . He shoots heavy single bevel blades and makes his own arrows . He makes footed shafts with the cedar and then Rosewood or some other type wood on each end of the shaft . I am pretty sure he keeps his shots down to 15 - 20 yards . The shafts in the bottom left picture have a piece of antler in the self nock .
  2. Use a camo tarp . She will never see it .........
  3. An article on the Moreland Commission http://gothamgazette.com/index.php/government/4647-housing-activists-hopes-for-moreland-commission-fade http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/23/nyregion/governor-andrew-cuomo-and-the-short-life-of-the-moreland-commission.html?_r=0
  4. Yeah , the truck plus 37 guns and 28 sets of deer antlers which included 11 shoulder mounts . That was a pretty good haul and had to be a bit costly .
  5. A friend asked me about shooting deer in Tompkins County this time of year . I knew nothing about it and did some GOOGLING . I see that they have a special season to shoot anterless deer from the 2nd Saturday in January to January 31 using Deer Management Focus Area (DFMA) permits . If the bucks lose their antlers early , they might be killing bucks also . http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/82382.html
  6. An old carpet or a discarded mattress .
  7. Many of the small shops get their ammo from Beikirchs so if Beikirchs can't get the ammo , they can't either .
  8. "Dudes" - Why don't you PM each other . No one wants to read this back and forth BS which has little to do , if anything , with the original post .
  9. Article in today's Rochester D&C states that Jackson Guns and Ammo is out of business in Henrietta . He closed his Scottsville store earlier mainly due to the ramifications of the SAFE Act . The owner plans to open a shop in North Carolina . Pro Gun in Victor will close when the owner retires as the SAFE Act has had an impact on them also . Beikirchs sales have slowed down in East Rochester but their 2 stores just across the Pennsylvania border are doing okay .
  10. I had to go to Honeoye Falls last night . Took Boughton Hill Road off rt 64 . Between Rt 64 and RT 65 on Boughton Hill Road , We saw over 60 deer in the fields . This was around the 5 pm time frame .
  11. My son put some Brassica and Chickory out back on his property . The deer are finishing it up . He had over a dozen deer out there last week .
  12. I was rooting for Green Bay . They pee'd the game away . The whole team needs to do the "double check" !
  13. It is now on pace to decimate records for the Martin Luther King holiday and for the month of January, pulling in roughly $105 million over the four-day period. It’s also a new high-water mark for director Clint Eastwood, whose previous weekend record was the $29.5 million wide-release opening for 2008’s Gran Torino. At 84, he’s still got it.
  14. Just watched "Lone Survivor" on DVD . There was some brutal action in that movie . Those Seals are some tough SOB's .
  15. Clean it up or the thread goes !
  16. If bucks were no longer allowed to be taken , I guess we would have to remove the targets from them in our area and just leave them on the does .
  17. The ground can't cause a fumble on a running play but it can on a passing play .
  18. Consider yourself lucky Larry . I have had deer on trail cams and when the season opens , no more pics even if I havn't been there the 1st couple weeks to stink up the area .
  19. It's the 21st post in this thread . Top of page 2 on my computer . The July 9 edition is probably still on the news stands for those that want to see it rather than believe a scanned article on here .
