And the price is ......... ?????
-
I guess the next time someone eyeballs me through a scope I will try to be more cordial . "Excuse me sir but would you please not look at me through the scope on your loaded gun and please take your finger off of the trigger and put your safety back on." That might be more politically correct . Yeah , right ! :

Nice inheritance ........

If there is anything I hate it's having some dumb ass looking at me through his scope ! I have screamed at guys a couple times and called them about every name in the book . One said "well I wasn't gonna shoot" . I suggested they get a pair of binos , even if they were cheap ones . All it takes is for someone getting careless and pulling the trigger by mistake .

My sister in law used to were her brown Carharts hunting . I told her that she had made enough enemies that she might be mistakenly shot . I gave her my father in laws old red hunting suit .

Reading these posts brings back some bad memories . I hunted with my father in law on land adjacent to letchworth Park (Gibsonville Road) I heard a noise in the gully and walked over toward the edge and all hell broke loose . A doe was running up the gulley bank and a guy at the bottom started shooting (all 5 shots) . I hit the deck at the 1st shot and the doe almost ran over me . I waited and hollared down to the shooter that he missed both of us . I was wearing a bright Red hunting jacket . It was around 1967 -----pre blaze orange . Another time I hunted at a HS classmate's property in Groveland . There was about 20 of us . We had a big breakfast and headed out . We were split into 2 teams posters and drivers and traded off after each drive . We would walk the woods about 50 yards apart so we could see each other . A buck ran toward us between myself and the guy to my left . I swung my shotgun up and over as it was going by and saw the guy to my left swinging his shotun horitontally and my heart stopped . I thiught I was going to get shot . He didn't pull the trigger . I never did deer drives after that except for a few 2 man drives with someone I knew real well .

Consider it stirred . How far do you practice with your X-bow ?

Nice job getting others involved ! -
Welcome to Hunting NY .

I had been shooting chucks for farmers in the past . I would drop them in their holes . A day or two later , they would be gone . Fox , yores , turkey vultures , etc apparently made a meal out of them . I had a recipe for crock pot woodchuck but never tried it ..........

Send a PM to BUBBA . He may know of some places .

I used to run 40+ miles a week and enter 5 mile and 10K races for fun . My ankles gave out and I quit running . Had my left knee replaced a couple years ago . Walking 1.3 miles a day is a bit painful but necessary as I spend too much time at the computer .
-
About a month ago I decided to get off my fat ass at least once a day and walk . I have a 1.3 mile route that I walk at least 6 times a week from my house through the Furnaceville Cemetary and back . Almost every evening I am greeted by a couple baby bunnies that have allowed me to walk within 5 yards of them . I decided to walk this am before it got too hot and saw a deer and a woodchuck . I pointed my finger at the chuck like I was shooting and he looked like he was ready to charge at me . Anyway , when the weather gets a bit cooler I will increase my walking distance and maybe wear a backpack with some weight in it . Then I should be ready for hunting season . Is anyone doing any exercise to get in shape or stay in shape ?

Eddie, just read the news account in Newsday. But you have provided a much better up date. They failed to give any of the info you just posted. My prayers go out to the dead and injured.Dave Dave --- that info was in this morning's paper . Here is more . http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20110720/NEWS01/107200335/1002/NEWS

The driver of the car ( Stephan Eldridge , 42 , of PennYan ) faces charges of reckless driving , unsafe passing , speed not reasonable , failure to keep right after passing , 5 counts of criminally negligent homicide and DWI . He is in deep shit !

I have a 60# draw Ben Pearson TX-4 and a 70# draw Parker Phoenix . I will continue to practice and hunt with them . I have no desire for a X-bow .

I passed on a spike and a 5 point last bow season and ate my buck tag but it didn't bother me in the least . Both of them were within 10 yards of my stand so I felt good that they came that close . Had a couple of doe fawns come within range also and passed on them . Never took a shot last bow season but enjoyed my time in the woods .

"refinishing" an old shotgun

The original wood on the stock looked nice . -
You might want to re-read Charlie's books . He discusses QDM and shooting does . Some of the doe are more of a challenge than the bucks especially during Rut when the bucks have pretty much one thing on their mind .
