He got off way too easy ! Should have gotten several year sentence . It could have just as easily been another hunter coming out of the woods that had stayed until near dark to hunt and had a long walk . There is no excuse for the "accident" . To top it off , the guy that shot couldn't see well due to Diabetes . Kinda like being blind and driving a car ! I hope the deceased's family pursues the issue .

I had a ported barrel on my TC Contender 14" 7-30 waters Hunter barrel . I was at the range practicing and thought , why not try this under hunting conditions . A huge tree was about 15' from the shooting deck so I placed my left hand on the tree , placred the pistol barrel across that arm and fired . Day-um ! The pressure coming out of the side of the barrel blew treebark dust in my eyes and they hurt for two days . I got hold of a fellow that deals with Contenders and made a swap for a new "un-ported" barrel . Shot a doe at 55 yards later that year .

I usually wear that shirt under other blaze orange so I have it when I take my jacket off to field dress a deer . As for the deer on top of the cars , I use to wait until almost dark before heading home as I didn't want to draw attention to the deer . I would sometimes get scowls from passing cars but almost always got a horn beep and a thumbs up from pickup trucks !

It never fails . The sabres jump out with a great lead and then become comotose !

How wiil the spiraling gas prices affect your hunting this fall ? If the prices keep climbing will you hunt less , closer to home , etc ? At &5 a gallon , it would cost me over $25 a day to drive towing the trailer with my ATV . ??? Havn't had any luck hunting close to home ! >

My son needed some holes made a few years ago on some hilly , rocky terrain . He rented a 2 man gas operated post hole digger . We still had to dig because of the large rocks in the grounf . If you have someone to help , the 2 man rig might work for you .

I wouldn't think the DEC would condone target practice on State land . Like Dave Boone mentioned they certainly don't want the trees chewed up / riddled with bullets !

You could cut some lengths of the drainage tubing , slit it and put it around the base of the tree to keep the rabbits from eating the bark .

They probably should have given the guy a Brain Scan while they had him on the table ! ??? Maybe he was in a bar and ordered a "Screwdriver" instead of a wrench ! :
