  1. Either we are too lazy to put a list together , don't have anything to offer or just don't care . I don't have any bullets to trade .
  2. Never had one not open and they leave a big hole !
  3. I use a HME Universal Mount Bow Holder on my ladderstands
  4. I bought a DEXTER 6" Sani-Safe wide boning knife at Pagliuso's Meat Market in Ontario for $15 . He said that's what they use in their business . High carbon steel blade . Check with your local butcher . About 3 years ago I purchased a meat grinder at DICK's for $50 on sale at half price . I have put a few deer through it . Check Amazon.com for grinders http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_5_26?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=meat+grinders+for+home+use&sprefix=meat+grinders+for+home+use
  5. I try not to screw anything into the trees where I have stands . I doubt one or two screws would do any damage but I try to avoid it . I have several stands on different properties .
  6. Both of the DEC guys I talked to said the Rage 3's are illegal and are considered barbed . The Gander Mt store in Henrietta had a sign by the Rage 3 display stating that they are illegal to use in NYS ( but they can still sell them ) . I'll stick with the rage 2's ......
  7. Sorry Wooly but I just had to pick on an old NYDEER buddy . Another method of hanging a backpack would be to carry an extra rachet or cinch strap . Run the strap through the straps on the backpack and tighten . No holes needed ......
  8. Wooly -- How much structural damage is caused by the bolt holes that are used to retain the seat , and the platform brackets as well as the ladder sections ?
  9. Spring is in the air and it's snowing out ........ ???
  10. I don't care who you are , that's funny !
  11. Slow reload ??? You only need one shot ! If someone is unable or too feeble to draw a bowstring , a crank would simplify things . Isn't that the thought process of using a crossbow to begin with to get women , kids into the woods that are unable to draw a bowstring as well as aiding the physically handicapped .
  12. Drill a hole in the rail , seat , etc of your chain-on or ladderstand . Put an eyebolt with 2 nuts and a lock washer in the hole . Tighten it down . Use a carabiner and hang your backpack via the eyebolt . The backpack will be in easy reach !
  13. That's why they are called "tree rats " .........
  14. We drove to Florida a couple weeks ago and stopped at Etowah , NC ( a suburb of Ashville ) to visit some friends . They have white squirrels that come to the feeders and they are not albinos . Legend has it that a Circus had come to town over 70 years ago and the squirrels escaped . The squirrels were quite nervous so I took pics from the sun room through the screen .
  15. I bought my 1st shotgun from Beikirch's when they were on North Winton Road in 1965 . They have a much better shop on Linden Avenue . There are a lot of folks in and out of the store .
  16. Many of the crossbows have cranks to draw the string back which requires minimal effort .
  17. Welcome to Hunting NY . Grab some popcorn , sit back and join in on the Circus .
  18. I called Beikirchs yesterday to see if a RCBS item I had ordered a couple months ago had come in . The guy that answered the phone said RCBS was having a problem filling orders . Today I got a call from Beikirchs and was asked by Dave about my order . I told him about it and he said there was no problem with RCBS and he would personally take care of my order and call when the items arrive . My son and I have shopped there several times and they are a great company ! Many of the shops around the Rochester area are supplied by Beikirchs ...........
  19. I took a copy of the price list for NEF HandiRifles from WalMart to Gander Mt and talked to the manager in the gun dept . He matched the price of a NEF 25-06 HandiRifle . When I picked it up , the manager told me that they were selling it at $5 less than it cost Gander Mt and lost money on the deal .
  20. I was shooting woodchucks for farmers in Walworth and stopped when the price of gas went up . One of the farmers was giving a guy 5 deer crop damage permits every year . I asked for just one and was refused . I told the farmer that his deer shooter could shoot the woodchucks . Plus the guy that was filling the deer permits screwed me around .
  21. I probably would . I could use the time that I normally spend practicing with the compound during the summer on other things . Not much practice needed with the X-bow . I would also probably hunt more from a ground blind than treestands and use a tripod to support the X-bow and take longer shots . I have seen the light !
  22. They have plenty of employees in the Henrietta store . They are busy staying out of reach of the customers . When you do catch up with one , they are somewhat knowledgable and helpfull .
  23. It sure sounded like a BS story ........
