  1. I do and keep in mind that if legal shooting time is 7 am in Albany County , it's not legal Monroe County yet . Check page 73 of the regs .
  2. Use "the 3 S method" to get rid of them ( Shoot , Shovel & Shut-up ) ....... :
  3. All you need is a buddy with a Back-Hoe ! :
  4. Doc == You hit the nail on the head but next time use a bigger hammer !
  5. I have used various hooks , screw-ins , etc .. Just trying to avoid screwing anything into a trre that might be objected to by the landowner . Some of them are a tad fussy .
  6. I don't think that I would like to try cutting carbons with a tubing cutter but whatever works for you . I can cut arrows to exact length with the saw .
  7. Your curiosity is going to cost you . The darned things run $39.95 for 3 broadheads and 1 practice head . A bit pricey .
  8. There should be a competency test to make sure a 12 year old could at least draw and shoot a 35# bow and hit the target . I believe 35# is still the minimum weight allowed in NYS . If the 12 year old passes the safety test and bow test , he / she gets certified . And before it's asked , it wouldn't bother me if I had to take the test with a bow at 60 or 70 # draw weight and hit a target . They have that requirement in place in Irondiquoit in order to cull the deer herd in the village .
  9. Feeders with pits dug nearby
  10. I wouldn't shoot . That would be just about the time that I would have a DEC official tap me on the shoulder . That's my kind of luck !
  11. For some reason I thought this was a "shorten the Gun season" thread . Anyway , I prefer to Bow Hunt over guns but ..... I think it would be unfair to the Gun Hunters to lose time in the field . I would also think it would decrease the hunter numbers even more and business' would lose money from the lack of sales to hunters .
  12. If you are going to allow 12 year olds to Bow Hunt , you had better wait until Crossbows are fully included into the Bow Season .
  13. Until I have a problem with the Rage 2 blades , I will continue to use them .......
  14. In 1963 , I was on a Mediterranian Cruise the the USMC ...........
  15. Either Sits is off his meds or he's taking too many of them . His "babbling" has been annoying .
  16. You are correct . The pic in the lower right is a Tekan II which is illegal . The blades on a Rage 3 don't pivot forward and are illegal also .
  17. On Saturday April 16 , 2011 there will be the 5th Annual Sportsmen's Dinner held at "The Living Word AG Church" at 2344 Ridge Road , Ontario , NY . Doors open at 4 pm ------- Dinner will be at 5 pm Cost is $5 and a Dish to Pass ( pasta , rice , potatoes , salad ) The speaker will be Bobby Brasher from Tyler , Texas who is a Guide for Triple J Guide service . If interested , call 315-904-4299 or e-mail [email protected] to get a reservation .
  18. My wife bought me a set of Outdoor Edge knives for Christmas . They are supposed to be fairly good . I had also bought a Wusthof Boning knife with leather sheath on EBAY for $17.50 plus $9.99 shipping . I had the winning bid . Saw some with some real high prices so I think I got a deal . The biggest problem I have with butchering my own is that I have arthritis in both hands . It is rather difficult to pull off the hide and grasp the "silver skin" to cut that off . But ..... I get it done . p.s. --- the air skinner doesn't work very well on a deer that has been field dressed ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]
  19. One-Shot got me . I figured he had typed too fast and had misspelled Grinder . Then again , I think he just bailed himself out . ')'>http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/newrollinglaugh.gif[/img]
  20. Back in the 60's , I was invited to a group hunt at a ex high school classmates huge farm . There was about 20 of us and we had a big breakfast first . We were split into 2 teams ( posters and drivers ) . It was bucks only back then . One team posted and the others drove . Then we would switch . On about the 3rd drive we were walking through a large woods about 50 yards apart . A buck bolted and ran from in front of us heading toward us . I was carrying my shotgun at port arms and swung it up and over towadrs the buck as he was past us . I saw the guy who had been to my left swinging his shotgun horizontally following the deer in his sights . My heart stopped momentarily . Afterward , I thought , what if he had pulled the trigger while the buck was between us . It gave me a queezy feeling . I told my friend that I didn't feel well and had to leave thanking him for the opportunity to hunt on his property . I have not done any deer drives since then except for a a few 2 person drives with my son or sister in law .
  21. Sounds good . I have an In-line ML that would leave me out of the loop but it would give the Trad Guys a break and that's okay . I like the Oct 1 start . Since it makes sense , it probably won't happen .
  22. I had seen the report before . The guy had a rope tied to the trigger guard . ??? .. ??? .. ??? as for retraining , how much Hunter Safety can you cram down one's throat ? The Archery safety was more of what the Gun Safety was all about and most of it is COMMON SENSE ! Testing folks for common sense would be more appropriate ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/2cents.gif[/img]
  23. I never owned one but I always thought they were cool !
