  1. I have never even had cooked deer heart . Sounds unappealing . Possibly if someone had me try it without me knowing what it was would work .
  2. The front end of my son's truck was 20 yards from his tree stand . The 3 deer in the picture were about 5 yards ahead of the truck . He said they were small and probably fawns . There is a trail through the hedge row at the end of my SIL's horse manure dump . Trucks are like deer magnets .
  3. Oct 3 - My oldest son and I met at my SIL's property in Geneseo . I took my ATV and we hunted about 700 yards from each other . I saw absolutely nothing all morning . Matt had 3 small deer in front of his Truck . They were about 25 yards from his stand . He thought about shooting but backed off . He hunts with a recurve bow . He also saw a doe later in the am . Took a break at 11 and went back to the stands at 1 pm . I moved to a different stand . The farmer started combining the soy beans in the field next door . Around 4 , Matt did a stalk hunt and I stayed put . Around 4:30 I saw a spike buck about 400 yards away in the gully lot and after a few minutes , it disappeared . The farmer finished the neighbor's field and came over to my SIL's field so we left around 5:30 . So far , so bad !
  4. Oct 1 - Opening day . I spent a total of 9 hours in my Tri-Pod stand on my oldest son's property in Honeoye Falls . Didn't see a thing excepy for a farmer's cat patrolling the property . At the end of a long day my son told me that they hadn't been seeing many deer out back in the past few weeks . What the heck ! I could have choked him . Anyway , I got opening day out of my system .
  5. Hunted my son's property in Honeoye Falls today . Didn't see a thing . Will give Geneseo a try Saturday. .
  6. Happy Hunting everyone ! Gotta load up on caffeine .......
  7. Made a platform 22"X30"X6 1/2" . Put it in the stand and took a few shots at 15 , 20 , and 32 yards . Worked fine . Now I need some deer to cooperate .
  8. Take a comfortable chair for your kid . Kids get bored quickly and will probably fall asleep .
  9. Here is another old video that I made with the Winch .
  10. I installed a battery operated hoist a few years ago . Too often the rope pull pulleys would slip and it was a pain to use them . My oldest son thought it was a funny idea and then he installed a plug in electric hoist in his barn . We have skinned and cut up several deer using the hoist . Here is an old video that I made .I use a lawn mower battery for power .
  11. I think I would have to take the rail off . I am working on a platform to be able to shoot over the rail .
  12. Unless those bales are packed Super Tight , my arrows would be getting busted up on that back wall .
  13. Thursday winds NW 9 mph . Not good for Honeoye Falls stands . Not good for several Geneseo stands . A day ago , the wind forecast was from the WSW . Need it to change again .
  14. I'm too stubborn not to go out when it rains . It can hopefully change in a few days .
  15. Morning showers forecasted for Geneseo and Mendon .
  16. Hauled some exercise equipment to my youngest son's home near Honeoye . I thought I would swing up past my oldest son's place in Honeoye Falls to see how it would be shooting out of the tripod stand . Took my bow , a couple arrows , quiver and and a haul rope with me . Grabbed one of the cheap foam targets that I gave my grandson and headed to the tripod stand . since the rail is about 4' high , I have to have the bow out and over the rail in order to shoot . This movement could spook the deer so maybe the rail should come off until Crossbow season . Not sure what to do .
  17. Her color has nothing to do with it . She is Radical Left ..........
  18. I have a Delta MacKenzie Kill Zone Target . It's holding up so far .
