Doewacker, Way to show your true colors.. Sorry i must have touched a nerve. What you say or do with you're antlers is your right and i challenge you to find a post where i have not defended each individuals choice of kill. Also have congradulated every successful hunter i've seen on here no matter how big or small the deer. That includes you. Nice cheap shot though..

Been getting script errors all day today. Probably a problem on my end but i followed the HELP's advice and it didn't fix it. They said it most often is the site itself but i don;t know. Any thoughts?

One other cool thing while hunting. Was sitting in a creekbottom stand one evening and i could see turkeys coming off the upper fields, flying just abovethe tree tops, and landing in the trees to roost for the night. Well as they one by one came over, i could see one coming my way from a couple hundred yrds out and he's headed my way. With their great eyesight, there's no way he's not going to see me right? Apparently this one was blind because dispite my eyes bugging out of my head and my arms being raised to protect my face, he brushes right by me and lands on the limb not three ft from my head. We stood there looking at each other like "one of us has to go" for about thirty seconds when he decided he really felt like finding another tree where he could sleep alone. It was quite a sight to see 20# of spurs and feathers crash landing right next to my face..

Couple years back i was pulling tree stands in the spring. As i walked through the field to my first set, i noticed something in the wheat field parallel to me and keeping pace with me. As i got into the open woods, i noticed it was a bird about the size of a small female pheasant but didn't know exactly what it was. It followed me to my first stand ,squawking and right on my heels. I climbed up and started lowering the stand while he stood at the base of the tree the whole time. On we went together to the next stand and the next stand. About 5 hrs later and 3 creek crossings that he had to fly across, i loaded the stands on the 4 wheeler and headed for the barn, a good 3/4 of a mile away. I went at a medium pace to see what would happen and the poor guy ran as fast as he could to keep up the whole way. At the barn i stacked the stuff away while he watched through the overhead door and i couldn't take it any more so i found a box, walked up and picked him up like a kitten. Now i had to know what this bird was and why it was acting the way it was so i drove to my dads and showed him. He took one look and said it was a female Grouse.? Never saw one in my life. I drove back and while driving through the field i heaved her out the window for fear she would continue to follow me if i got out and let her go. Still no idea why she followed me for at least 4 miles and let me pick her up like a pet..? I think she had a crush on me.LOL

"You can't hang the backstraps on the wall".. Let me paraphrase that for you . If your going to set out to climb a mountain, then set you sights on the top and prepare to go all the way. If you come up short, at least you gave yourself everything you needed to have the chance to reach it. Otherwise why even bother to try..

Tough situation that you find yourself in. Only advice i can give is to others that come across trespassers. No mercy, No excuses, Every time, call the troopers and the DEC. Let the guy give all his excuses to them, and let them settle the matter. Because you didn't do that, you put yourself in a potentially dangerous situation and even worse, you now have your family right in the middle of it . Confronting someone may be the manly, tough thing to do but i bet your wife isn't very impressed at this moment..

"You can't eat the horns".. If i never hear that silly line from another hunter it will be too soon.. To ya'll that love to through that out there, Usually followed up with that other wonderful phrase, "if it's brown, it's down" i would like to say that to harvest and eat the venison is not the ONLY reason people take to this wonderful sport. And i certainly don't think it's the only noble reason thats for sure. Too me that is in many ways, more degrading to the majestic whitetail deer than the trophy hunters who not only eat the meat, but cherish the antlers and take the pictures and relive the thrill of hunting the most difficult animal to hunt in north America. The Mature Whitetail Deer. I have always defended everyones right to pull the trigger on whatever they want but i think when someone butchers up his deer, and then discards the antlers in the trash just because you can't feed it down your throat, i feel that is in many ways dis-respectful to one of gods most amazing creatures. Just MY opinion..

Congrats Dave.. Super job..

Seems like alot of good things were happening in section 9 this weekend. Both my brothers hunted two different spots in 9 and both had multiple big buck sightings.

Ya that buck has a ton of character don't it.. Split brows, kickers, gnarley bases. He's gonna look great on the wall. Nice Job bud..

Cleaned up my browser of cookies and stuff and we're back in business.. Really helped with the speed of everything.

My computer also runs this site super slow. All the other forums and sites are fine. right now i'm typing like the audio on those japanese subtitled Godzilla movies. I type and the word shows up 3 seconds later. Using windows vista and Frontier high speed dsl if that helps. Seems worse at night.

Cool stuff man. Whats the cost and time involved in having the beetles work over a deer skull?
