Shot the Girsan again and got it sighted in pretty well, I was having a tough time seeing the front sight so I ordered a fiber optic job that will help me a lot getting on target I think. Not a single malfunction as of yet with my handloads, the reliability has been great. I would like the trigger just a bit crisper and lighter, good trigger jobs on 1911s are not cheap, something I may get into down the road. Al

Wow, this forum provider REALLY doesn't want people to use it, does it?

Forums-message boards are not free, funds come from one of two places. The forum owner can pay for the costs out of pocket or various ads attached to the forum can fund costs. Takes a second to delete the pop up ad on this board if not interested, no big deal as far as I am concerned. Al -
I got out and did a little shooting this morning on the new archery target, used the SAS Long Bow and assorted weight practice arrows at 30 yards. The first seven at least hit the target, I am no Jennifer Delaney for sure but I had fun and I really like the long bow, it will lay them in there half way decent with the right arrows I think. Al

NY DEC pushing to ban lead ammo again.
airedale replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
More libtard back door hogwash, as for copper bullets for hunting, way overrated and over priced. You only have to look at California to see what traditional ammo bans have done for the hunting and shooting sports. Al -
Tore down my old archery back stop made from bales of hay wired tightly together, what a mess, on top of that a couple of snakes living in it made me come out of my shoes and scream like a woman. Got my new target frame all painted up and targets attached to the frame, started to rain so I did not get a chance to shoot and break it in, maybe tomorrow. The rifle-handgun range will be next up to get into shape. Time to throw some lead. Al

A quick overview of Tim's new book, I have been acquiring books about the outdoor sports since I was a kid and still pick one up on occasion today. This book is in line with my old school books of participating in the outdoors in traditional ways and methods, love seeing folks still using such techniques. To put it simply it is my cup of tea and I like it a lot, especially Jill's first deer tale. Tim could not have summed it all up better, "he is part of a happy family and is a blessed man, you did good Tim. Al

An update, these guys are growing like weeds, especially the Geese. The chickens are feathering out pretty good and I can tell what breeds I ended up with. Have a nice Belgium Liege Fighter stag and some really nice Asils. Al

Congrats and hopefully many years of happy bird hunting. Al

My pastures are fenced with woven wire that is 4 ft high, the Deer go over it easily. I had one three acre field fenced with 6 ft high woven wire and never had one clear it that I know of. I saw a couple of attempts, but those particular jumps were failures and they just crashed into the fence. Al

I have not shot at all of late as I have been so busy doing stuff around here on the farm that needs to get done now, I look forward to firing up a storm with both firearms and archery stuff shortly. Al

They will grow unbelievably fast, my goslings were just fuzzballs a few weeks ago, today they look like adults. Al

A site on youtube I frequent a lot, "Day at the Range" love it because of all the rimfire videos testing various rimfire rifles and handguns. "Mr Revolver Guy" the site owner has the Fly Swatter Challenge setup for anyone with a good shooting 22 rifle to participate in for fun. I will put in the link to his site for particulars and for printable targets. This is the kind of stuff I enjoy, I hope to give it a try soon and hopefully the weather will cool down just a bit. https://dayattherange.com/?p=11278 just scroll down a little. Al Range — 50 Yards Rules Of Engagement Most important have a lot of fun Shot at 50 yards Shoot as many spotters as you like above the line. One shot per fly and you MUST have a body shot for it to count as 1 point. Complete the challenge in 5 minutes.

Homemade Tick Repellent
airedale replied to airedale's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I just did up a batch of the home made and while I do not have the sophisticated nose power of a Deer I do not smell any difference between the Sawyers and the home mix. I let my stuff air dry outside on a clothes line and I can not detect either one. Al -
Wow, that was one heck of a Tom for sure, and he earned it, good story. Al

A deep clean for my handguns is usually done by taking the grips off and putting the gun in a Tupperware type container and letting it soak in white kerosene, it will loosen up all the crud. Al

Major trail maintenance I have used pole saws small chain saws and lopping shears. When hunting I am on the move a lot and will sometimes carry a small set of pruning shears that fit in my game bag to clean up small branches and bushes in a place I might want to sit for a while. I also have a small easy carrying folding saw that I have used at times for something that may obstruct my view. Al

One of the lousy chores when it comes to firearms is the cleaning ritual. When you do a lot of shooting there ends up being a lot of cleaning. I have found these RamRodz swabs to be a great addition to a gun cleaning arsenal, they make getting into hard to reach spots on both long guns and handguns easier and less messy. I use my preferred solvent brands and get really nice results with these swabs. Al
