Congrats and hopefully many years of happy bird hunting. Al

My pastures are fenced with woven wire that is 4 ft high, the Deer go over it easily. I had one three acre field fenced with 6 ft high woven wire and never had one clear it that I know of. I saw a couple of attempts, but those particular jumps were failures and they just crashed into the fence. Al

I have not shot at all of late as I have been so busy doing stuff around here on the farm that needs to get done now, I look forward to firing up a storm with both firearms and archery stuff shortly. Al

They will grow unbelievably fast, my goslings were just fuzzballs a few weeks ago, today they look like adults. Al

A site on youtube I frequent a lot, "Day at the Range" love it because of all the rimfire videos testing various rimfire rifles and handguns. "Mr Revolver Guy" the site owner has the Fly Swatter Challenge setup for anyone with a good shooting 22 rifle to participate in for fun. I will put in the link to his site for particulars and for printable targets. This is the kind of stuff I enjoy, I hope to give it a try soon and hopefully the weather will cool down just a bit. https://dayattherange.com/?p=11278 just scroll down a little. Al Range — 50 Yards Rules Of Engagement Most important have a lot of fun Shot at 50 yards Shoot as many spotters as you like above the line. One shot per fly and you MUST have a body shot for it to count as 1 point. Complete the challenge in 5 minutes.

Homemade Tick Repellent

I just did up a batch of the home made and while I do not have the sophisticated nose power of a Deer I do not smell any difference between the Sawyers and the home mix. I let my stuff air dry outside on a clothes line and I can not detect either one. Al -
Wow, that was one heck of a Tom for sure, and he earned it, good story. Al

A deep clean for my handguns is usually done by taking the grips off and putting the gun in a Tupperware type container and letting it soak in white kerosene, it will loosen up all the crud. Al

Major trail maintenance I have used pole saws small chain saws and lopping shears. When hunting I am on the move a lot and will sometimes carry a small set of pruning shears that fit in my game bag to clean up small branches and bushes in a place I might want to sit for a while. I also have a small easy carrying folding saw that I have used at times for something that may obstruct my view. Al

One of the lousy chores when it comes to firearms is the cleaning ritual. When you do a lot of shooting there ends up being a lot of cleaning. I have found these RamRodz swabs to be a great addition to a gun cleaning arsenal, they make getting into hard to reach spots on both long guns and handguns easier and less messy. I use my preferred solvent brands and get really nice results with these swabs. Al

I agree, My favorite feature on the Yonkers Kimber is the Mauser style claw extractor, a neat and different setup to be sure. reminds me of a miniature pre 64 Winchester model 70. I have plenty of different brands of match ammo to give this rifle a good test and compare to some of my other bolt action 22s. The Kimber is going to have to shoot really well to hang in there and best some of those rifles. Al

Goes to show if there is a will there is a way to come up with some kind of hunting and shooting action. The Flies will be catching Hell on my backyard range shortly, my son got me one heck of a Father's Day gift, a Yonkers NY Kimber HS 22LR rifle. The factory test target shows a one hole group at 50 yards with Remington match ammo, just the ticket for fly splatting. I am chomping at the bit. Al

Aa mentioned above I am a big fan of quality American company compact scopes, in recent years they have fallen by the wayside with very few choices to be had. Consequently, I am constantly on the prowl over at ebay looking for a buy on nice condition used scopes which are far from being cheap these days. Found a rare bird the other day, a top of the line USA Redfield 5 Star compact 3X9 priced right and I snapped it up. It is the first one I have ever seen in person and I like what I am seeing. Now for the fun part, matching it up to the right rifle. Al
