  1. My best Hunting Dogs were almost always the ones living in my house. Obedience and handling are a couple of things that are on the top of my list when training any dog, when you are around them 24-7 your hunting dog gets to know what is allowed and what is not non stop. Nothing better than a great hunting dog that also handles like a dream. Al
  2. The thread veered off from it's initial subject of gun confiscation because of the accusation we are one issue voters which is far from the truth. "Gun Control" and "Hunting Rights" are a main issue of concern for members of this board because it is after all a hunting board. That being said the laundry list of issues against the radical Democrats is much much more and a few were just were pointed out to show that, I think the thread's content is very good as it exposes some pretty sick thinking and rationale. Al
  3. No way I am dropping it and I am not going to give in an inch when it comes to these people and you are perfect case of someone in denial and does not have a clue LELAND! https://www.grandviewoutdoors.com/lifestyle/10-anti-hunting-organizations
  4. When it comes to animal rights groups and hunting and you think they are going along with any kind of sport hunting ideology you are about as wrong as can be, Hell some of them think it is wrong to own a dog! Make no mistake about it, all of them are out to shut us down PERIOD!!!! I have been in this fight for many years and have seen plenty of erosion, California is the perfect example of Democrat control and it's effects on hunting and shooting, all of it is down in that state big time! Also Europe, I have friends in the hunting dog world over there and watched for years and seen almost all hunting and gun ownership go down the toilet. The AR groups are using many of the same tactic used over there here, it is chip away a little bit at a time starting with the weakest groups. They are sneaky! I belong to have have contributed to many of the organizations below along with NY local organizations. They give a heads up on current legislation and I try to be fully informed of these radical's agendas and how they plan to implement them. One more thing, If they could shut this board down they would do it in an instant! Top 10 Pro-Hunting Organizations NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION. SPORTSMEN’S ALLIANCE. SAFARI CLUB INTERNATIONAL. DUCKS UNLIMITED. NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION. QUALITY DEER MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION. ROCKY MOUNTAIN ELK FOUNDATION. BOONE AND CROCKETT CLUB. MULE DEER FOUNDATION. PHEASANTS FOREVER.
  5. Sorry I don't believe in killing babies period, if beam me up Scotty is OK with you that's your choice but not mine and there is no way in Hell you can make me feel any guilt about my belief! Al
  6. LOL! I do not get any news from the internet I get my information from the Horse's mouth. I watched the Dem debates, I watched the DNC convention and listened to what was said on the Sunday shows doing interviews of Dem leadership, All I have listed is stuff that came directly from party members and as for Abortion yes it does concern me, I stuck my head in the sand for many year not wanting to know anything about it. As the old saying goes "What You Don't Know Won't Hurt You" but 63 million babies killed since Roe is pretty hard for me to sweep under the rug at this time in my life knowing what I do. In my mind you did not make a believable argument on any of the above, I will take your party at their own words! Al
  7. As much as I am a hunting and gun fanatic it is not at the top of my issues when it comes to party and voting. Abortion is now at the top of my list and I am against it big time and especially so after reading detailed accounts of what actually occurs during the procedure. I have always said and still before anyone who is in power voting for or against abortion laws they must have to view that actual procedure first, I am sure there are plenty of videos out there somewhere in abortion land if they have the guts to watch one. I crack up when the Dems are so passionate about Trump's covid response and he is the main fault of all the deaths associated with covid. Yet they have no problem with the killing of unborn human babies by the millions. On the fence? if you did not see this woman at the RNC convention who ran a planned parenthood you should. it is only a few minutes long.
  8. Far more than a single issue!!! Open borders with free health care to those that come through. Abortion on demand Universal healthcare Reimagine our Police forces (DEFUND)! Abolish ICE How about free college! There ain't nothing like the word "FREE" to suck someone in! Hell yes we are coming for your guns, all on stage applauded! And that is just the tip of the iceberg! Sue the NRA into oblivion! Tax increases by the trillions! The Green New Deal which is a nuclear bomb of wacko regulations that will bring the economy to it's knees along with devastating hardships. Ask them how much they support the Outdoor Sports? Every single anti hunting, anti shooting, anti fishing, anti trapping, animal rights group in this country support Democrats! How much do these activities matter to you? Trade deals that stick it to our own workers! Kiss their ass foreign policy! Tearing down our history! No Law and Order! ANARCHY IS OK! All one needs to do is take a look at Democrat controlled cities, Chicago, NY, Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, St Louis, Baltimore, it is all out there to see if one takes the time to take a serious look!
  9. Sad, this is what insurance companies refer to as hard to prove Jewish Lighting, in recent years the old Savage factory has been set on fire several times and it looks like this time the job was done right, can be sure the owners will shed no tears. My Dad worked there before going into the Navy during WW2 and I have his model 99 30-30 from that era. They also produced fine Fox Double shotguns. There was a day when NY State was the mecca for US gun manufacturers, LC Smith, Lefever, Baker, Ithaca, Parker, Savage and Fox, all gone except for Remington which is hanging by a thread with non stop lawsuits and a Democratic governor that would like nothing better than to see them fold like the others. Al
  10. Got a ten foot screen for inside, hangs and drops down from the ceiling, the picture on this thing is great, much better than this photo shows, movie night anytime. James Bond, "Her Majesty's Secret Service"
  11. The Democrats have plenty of ideas of their own, they laid out their agenda during the debates and what is said by them personally every day as reported in the news. Open borders with free health care to those that come through. Universal healthcare Reimagine our Police forces (DEFUND)! Abolish ICE How about free college! Man I am getting tired typing but I will say this, this election is all about platform and policy not personalities, I am not voting for a "Miss Congeniality" I am voting for a platform that supports my life and interests. Besides GreenHunter does not like me making long posts and will reprimand me if I keep going on and on! Al
  12. In my opinion there is still a place for Deet based repellents especially in the summer months when there is a lot of exposed skin. I basically live in the woods and when outside I am ringing the dinner bell for every biting insect or bug known to inhabit the North East such as Black Flies, Deer Flies, Horse Flies, no see ums, Mosquitoes, etc. The Mosquito pools up this way have been tested and shown to carry West Nile and Triple E. While I spray down my hunting clothes with permethrin and some of my other outdoor specific clothing I do not spray down every article of clothing I wear with permethrin, and also permethrin is not recommended to be used on exposed skin so traditional repellent has it's place in my world. By the way since we are talking about biting insects my wife purchased a bug killer on QVC at the beginning of the summer, I was a non believer myself but it was her dime so it was her gamble. So sitting out on the deck just before dark was impossible, the mosquitoes came out of the woodwork and would eat you alive. Since this Dyna Trap has been hanging outside in operation that problem has virtually vanished. This thing catches bugs by the thousands and I have to say I was totally wrong about it's effectiveness, it really does work. Al Have you heard the buzz? Nope. No buzz at all. That's because the DynaTrap XL does all the trapping without any zapping. Ultraviolet bulbs, carbon dioxide, and a built-in fan are what DynaTrap uses to keep bugs at bay.
  13. Another option is a modular, you can pay what your budget can afford and the best part is almost instant gratification as they can set these homes up pretty fast. My son went that route about 20 years ago and purchased a beautiful large 2 story home that still looks as nice today as the week it was set up. Al
  14. When I first saw this I thought it was a memes joke! Nothing like being in love----With Yourself!
  15. Back before being bought out by S&W TC decided to enter the rimfire market with a 22 rifle built in the old fashioned traditional way using steel and walnut, the rifle was called the "Classic." A magazine fed autoloader was the route taken, the receiver was made from steel, the magazine was made from steel, the barrel was threaded into the receiver and had a match chamber, and for the final touch the stock was done in good old American walnut. The fit and finish of both metal and wood was outstanding, everything about it was my kind of firearm. When I heard about the classic being introduced I was standing in line waiting with cash in hand tp purchase one and got one in my hands. I quickly found that with match ammo the Classic would shoot groups right up there with my high end bolt actions. On Rimfire Central com there were owners that were winning matches and the Classic was riding high. The Classic's reputation came tumbling down shortly after it was discovered the extractor was slightly oversize and on some rifles cause a tiny chip of metal to wear away in the extractor groove. To be perfectly honest the chip had zero effect on accuracy or reliability of the rifle but that was all it took to destroy the Classic's stellar reputation and sales plummeted. The sad thing is the whole problem was easily solved with with just a small amount of metal removed off the extractor so there was no contact with the barrel. I did the fix myself along with a bit of trigger work and I have no chip. TC tried to rectify the problem with dropping the Classic and bringing out a new rifle called the Benchmark which was basically the Classic without the extractor problem and a laminated stock. This did not shore up sales and sadly the whole works was dumped when purchased by S&W. Their new rifle is a cheaper to manufacture Ruger clone and there is no doubt it is a fine rifle but it is no Classic in my eyes. Anyhow yesterday I had my Classic out for some exercise and with the Federal match ammo I was using she was laying them in there nicely and a couple of Flies got their angel wings. So if you happen to run across a used Classic in your favorite gun store they can be bought a lot cheaper than what they are worth in my opinion and if you are in the market for a 22 rifle you will not go wrong taking it home with you. Al
  16. There is plenty of it out there if you want to look for it.
  17. I have been doing a lot of rimfire bench shooting and when I touched off this 45-70 I was not thinking recoil and benched and held it like a rimfire rifle and she came back rattled my brain pretty good and I think loosened my teeth fillings LOL. I have a Marlin 95 45-70 that is not at all bad to shoot but I am firing factory 300 gr that are not loaded hot like my handloads out of it. I once had a Ruger 77 458 Win Mag and that was over 10 pounds in weight which made it just a bit more pleasant and tolerable. While it will not be a favorite on the bench plinking for hunting it will be no problem. Approximate ballistics to 200 yards Al
  18. I picked up a new Thompson Center Encore frame to use with a 45-70 barrel I have, I had to do a little fiddling around stoning the bolt so the hammer would cock, got that done and took her out to test some handloads. Started out a 50 yards and although the 2.5 Leupold scope when mounted was bore sighted I could not hit the paper, brought out my other bore sighter and did another bore sighting, took another shot and still missed the target, that was a first for me. Anyhow moved to the 25 yard target and found I was shooting low. Got the elevation in the ball park and proceeded to sight in with Barnes 350 gr spitzers loaded hot. The left target was at 25 yards, two in the same hole. Moved things back out to 50 yards again, first shot a little high made an adjustment and had two touching about 1.5 inches high and that it where she is staying. I have to say this rifle shoots great but it's light weight (6 1/4 lbs) makes it very unpleasant to shoot recoil wise. Al
  19. Truer words were never spoken is correct, so you should not be surprised when you are on a site such as this with folks that literally live and breath this outdoor life activity and lifestyle that is discussed here that they want to defend it vigorously. You poke a stick in their eye saying you are for and are going to vote for politicians whose party platform-agenda are doing everything in their power to end it and that is no exaggeration. You say you are an avid hunter but you are cutting your own throat voting for them. Like oil and water the Democratic party and the outdoor life sports do not mix, there is a constant onslaught from members of the Democratic party chipping away at everything we do. Al
  20. On a sad note James 'Kamala' Harris, former WWE wrestler, dies at 70 - CNN https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/10/us/wwe-kamala-james-harris-death/index.html Aug 10, 2020 · (CNN) Former WWE wrestler James Harris has died at age 70, according to a news release from the wrestling company. Harris, who performed in the ring as Kamala, made his WWF debut in 1984. The Ugandan Giant was a favorite of mine, I saw him wrestle at the War Memorial in Syracuse back in the day.
